I'm still trying to piece together what the bicycle accident was about, but I'm really enjoying this focus on Marcus as a character. To see how he's keeping the struggles of looking after his Mom completely under the surface and not letting it interfere with his culinary career and friendships is commendable, and I hope he also reaches the great heights he deserves. Will Poulter's character was a lovely foil to Carmys frantic, demanding, stress driven teachings. I like to think that the stage that came in and showed his character up was Carmy, but I know that's pretty far fetched.

@xiofire I was baffled by the bike accident too, I was sure we were going to find out that it was a scam and his wallet/phone was pickpocketed and his trip was in jeopardy or something. Then they just cut to him facetiming with Sydney. Weird.

Also, I assumed Will's character was who Carmy talked about in the AA meeting last season. The story seemed to line up with what I remembered

@juddwith2ds Having now finished the series, I think it's playing into the entire seasons theme of "every second counts". Everything we do is important because every second we put into anything is a sign of intention and dedication. Much like Marcus going to look after his Mom, him helping the trapped man is both a reflection of his character, and symbolic in the sense he is willing to take some important seconds out of his day to help a complete stranger. I think juxtaposing this with the Facetime to Syd shows that nothing is above or below in importance, every second truly does count, no matter what it's dedicated to, big or small.
And I think you're right, and there is a nod to a confirmation in the latter part of the series which was a nice touch.

@juddwith2ds Good catch! I'm going to have to rewatch, I forgot what Carmy said in AA last time.
