Barry was written in a way where the character had incredible coincidental luck but also tasted a lot of negative setbacks. We rooted for him to do better... "starting now". I think the coincidental luck should have carried through to the end, I think season 4 tried too hard to make this darker and show us a more realistic take on Barry. Personally I didn't think it worked, it took a lot of the joy and dark comedy and just got messy. Like many series it's started out great but didn't stick the landing. That said I enjoyed my time with Barry and hope to see what else Bill Hader does in the future.
