I was initially very excited about this film--what could be better than having Chadwick Bosman, Taylor Kitsch and J.K. Simmons in one cop film! But my excitement turned into the average joy of watching a below average thriller. The first half of the film offers a lot of promise, but it fizzles significantly in the second half. It almost feels like they had to wrap up the film suddenly and forgot to think out the conclusion.
If you can forgive some plot holes and the predictable ending you'll be rewarded with some solid acting and views of New York only displayed better in the John Wick movies. Chadwick Bozeman can carry a movie that's not branded with Marvel!
This is such a tone deaf movie. The dialogue is so bad it's phisically painful. When Sienna Miller s character said "Who's Becky with the good hair?" it was just too much.
An easy straightforward watch but what a fabulous cast this one features.
Poor old Frank Reagan just lost half his police force. Great action movie. Enjoyed it enormously.
Pretty generic crime movie with nothing that memorable. It's a weird title with hardly any bridges.
Chadwick, gone so soon, bless yeah. I thought the film was great and sound performance from chad wick.
Acting was great, stories mediocre at best. It just felt like something I've seen many times before but it's still enjoyable.
Ok, so it’s the oldest, most predictable cop movie plot in the book, but I still enjoyed it nevertheless. Good acting, relatable characters, cool sets. Not a movie I’ll rush to see a second time, but good enough to enjoy the whole way through. Wakanda forever.
This movie brings the killed cops highscore to an all time high. Nice plot twist tho even pretty hard obvious after half of the runtime.
this is a movie we have seen many times before. It was however still enjoyable to watch, just not a great movie.
Despite the fact that the story isn't very original and it is very predictable this is still a very good action movie. Not this crazy over the top stuff. I like that.
Good movie. Keeps you interested right till the end. Wasn't what I thought it would be based on the trailer - expected a cat and mouse chase to stop the bad guys leaving Manhattan.
Only had one issue with the movie: How the hell did she get on the subway train?! She was nowhere close to the train when it took off, and the other cops just arrived as they got on.
Solid 9/10
Nothing new but worth to watch
A very solid crime action-thriller. I had a great time.
In the end though we learn that so many of the cops we see except Boseman's Andre Davis are pretty much on the take. Let me tell you something no one is more dedicated than a cop on the take about to lose his piggy bank. These guys go hard in every respect. Guys are dying by the handful and still rogue cops are running around getting their fingers shot off. This is cult like behaviour. I promise you if I was crooked I'd be taking money because I want money and it's easy. You want me to look the other way no problem. You want me to hunt down two literal former soldiers who have killed 16 cops on their own over two gun battles? Nah son they get to escape at that point.
That said based on some of the response I'm seeing there's a certain contingent that's trying to make this movie into another "Killmonger was right" sequence. It's not. Cptn McKenna of the 85th precinct who was the leader of this completely crooked DEPARTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS. Tries to justify his actions that have killed like 16 of his people and maybe 5-7 innocent civilians as necessary to keep his people alive. they don't get paid enough, their hours are hard so they should make up that money by functionally selling drugs. It's stupid logic. It makes no sense. They're making more work for themselves as Davis (Boseman) explains. His father was killed because drugs were on the street. Selling the drugs doesn't just give cops money it makes the people they're supposed to serve and protect pay for that money with their lives and protection. It's WHY the people hate the cops. Not just the people in the movie but people in general. IRL people. So many people hate the cops that cop hating is a viable plotline for a Hollywood movie and it's because of logic like that that legit people legit try to have. So in conclusion it was a fun movie. I liked the twists and turns. I liked the tension. But I like all that from a responsible perspective one that separates reality from fiction. In fiction there can be this push and pull of what is right and what is wrong in the circumstances presented. In reality it's much more clear cut. Reality is filled with gray zones that aren't either black or white. Nothing presented in this movie are any of them.
Omggg I had to take my kids to see Frozen ll... Otherwise this is my choice.. I'll watch it tho.. Sometime next week
A very good action thriller.
'21 Bridges' has an excellent showing from Chadwick Boseman, everything else isn't quite up to his level though is all still very good. The support cast, which includes the likes of J. K. Simmons and Taylor Kitsch, pacing and music are my main pluses for this 2019 flick.
It's far from perfect of course, but I personally I got what I wanted from it and would happily watch it again.
Predictable story, but a solid action movie. Chadwick was fantastic.
very, very good cop flick..lotta gun fights, flying bullets and killings..good suspenseful music and Bozeman good acting. what else you need.? 8
"You'd better have perfect diction calling me a trigger."
Rest in peace - In honor of Chadwick Boseman
I should've watched this when it came out because it was pretty entertaining. Chadwick's performance is pretty good in it: Intense, serious, and the only wanting to do the right thing. There are some plotholes that didn't make much sense to me, but overall this was enjoyable.
The story is not very exciting, but the cast gets plus points, especially Boseman and James played it well.
Awesome plot, but u can find similar stories like this , i rather like the final chasing and it was one of the greatest chasing I’ve ever watched.
Started off with a blast and after a hour it made me fall asleep
Good solid thriller with no frills.
And the penultimate film with Chadwick Boseman, who unfortunately recently passed away too early.
Good cast, great cinematography, cool shots and strange story-wrapup. It's like some other reviews wrote: It feels rushed towards the end of the movie.
Anyway, i had a good time.
I liked it, a lot of action well done, story followed in an hour, good protagonist
Movie started off well but it was too obvious that the cops were dirty too quickly. Also the ending too cliche, too wild west of an ending. The plot was good overall, just too hurried also. Maybe if the desperation of the cops were less obvious or more explained. And at no time was it explained who set the whole thing up which definitely reeked through the movie also. As the one character says, it was a set up, so it could've ended with something flashing to who set the whole thing up but nothing.. Not terrible. 6.5-7.
Nice and good movie....I Like this style of storry's ....................................and allot of Cocaine yummy hahahahhaha lol :) :) :)
Remember the 1980s? 21 Bridges sure does. This detective story is a mimeograph of every police thriller from that decade, down to the twist that we the audience spot at the beginning but that the hard-boiled master detective doesn't discover until it's (almost) to late.
This is a shame. A bit of a missed opportunity in my eyes.
At a time where every movie seems to be a Marvel superhero one - and most being mediocre - it was refreshing to watch a good old fashioned cop thriller.
However... It's not a strong one.
Biggest issue is that it is predictable and feels somewhat formulaic. I also struggled with the over-done soundtrack. It just feels a little heavy handed when there is a notable plot item.
On the plus side, Chadwick does a nice job playing a no-nonsense, chip-on-shoulder detective.
But the overall predictability and the shorter running time let this prime opportunity slip by.
6.5 / 10 - a shame as it had so much potential
PS. I wonder if this would have done better as a two-part mini series for TV...
A must seen :)
Very good movie
I don’t know if in real life it’s like that ?
I am on both side :)
I think & I hope this will blow my mind
The trailers look so great I love it
Let’s watch it for real

Thank you the NYPD for saving us from that garbage :)
The speed of the movie is beginning hard cool
Very good no extraordinary acting of Chadwick Bozeman and all the others too

Fun fact: the film was originally going to be called 23 Bridges, but Jeff and Beau pulled out last minute. Real fact: the film is awfully generic; a shame, as the cast is amazing.
