it was a beautiful story, but I felt like the main couple had no chemistry. they looked great together but the illusion of that once in a lifetime kind of love kept breaking because they just didn't sound too drawn to eachother. other than that it was a nice movie and a touching real life story behind it.
there was something missing .. im not sure exactly what is it but i think it lacked a bit of emotions ... despite being an emotional sad movie i didn't cry even once !!!! (and im a cry baby when it comes to this genre)
so overall, i will say it was just fine. realistic, fun at some points, had a good rhythm, and a good message within it .. that's it but still not recommend it strongly.
It was a decent romantic movie. Could've been a lot better if the acting was good.
Even though is a good movie i couldnt connect with the characters and i felt that their behaviour through the movie was weird after everything was happening.Good perfomances though and great chemistry between Jessica and Harry. Not great but watchable 6.4/10
The performances in this were good, however I found the actual film quite dry and boring and the format of the film felt kind of disjointed to me and made me unable to fully connect with the characters so I struggled to feel a lot of emotion towards them, and in the end it just felt quite underwhelming and unsatisfying.
Cute story, but couldn't quite connect to the characters on that level that would have made it a moving story. The woman lead wasn't hitting the emotional bits very well. And the story just didn't flow. I'd like to put more words to this, but all I can think of is a disconnect. Harry Shum Jr. was great! Though his casting for Sol doesn't really match his real life counterpart, but that happens more often than not in Hollywood - at least they cast an Asian actor I guess. Or maybe it was for the name more than anything. Oh well. The film could have been done better.
There’s no denying that the true life story behind the film is a moving one but here’s the thing. There are many movies like this one, all of them sad, so why did we need this? My heart goes out to the people the film is based on but this just isn’t that good a movie.
This is a touching story. Amazing!

Movies like this tend be schmaltzy and corny, but I felt this film was able to eclipse that bar through both the performances and the dialogue. Jessica Rothe was terrific as a young woman struggling in the face of unimaginable adversity showing a tremendous range of emotion in the role. Harry Shum, Jr., while reserved in much of his role, showed off great depth in his ability to reach the core of his character's emotional journey.
While skipping a bit of the process, I did feel that this film sufficiently covered the five stages of grief. It's not easy to watch a loved one die, nor is easy to be the one dying. These stages are very real, something that most of us will go through at some point in our lives, and I felt that this film did service to this shared experience.
One scene I felt encapsulated the relationship between Jennifer and Solomon particularly well was at their wedding, when they were standing at the base of this large fountain discussing the potential outcomes of Solomon's treatment. Jennifer stepped up on the ledge of the fountain and jumped into the water in her flowing wedding gown. She asked Solomon if he was going to join her, and he stepped up on the ledge, as well. After a moment of looking at the water, the camera focused on this feet, as he jumped. It was a strong metaphor to show that Solomon was jumping in w/ both feet first into his marriage, his wife's care and support, his treatment, and his journey into the unknown.
All in all, I thought that this film worked on a variety of different levels. It's not an Academy Award-level drama, and it doesn't try to be. But, it is a solid love story about two young people who struggle mightily w/ something they know very little about, and in the face of all adversity, they found that their love for one another carried them through immense loss and heartbreak as well as could be expected.
