Way too silly, It is noticeable that they don't want to go as hard (and ridiculous, maybe?) as the original American Pie movies, due to the team of girls but the plot is super predictable and generic. The movie tries to be very forward/progressist but it does it on the most backwards way possible.
The only moments I was able to laugh at the movie was when it wasn't trying to be funny, when I couldn't take it seriously.
you'd die of cringe :grimacing:. what a crap shit. it gets worse and worse....
I loved the OG American Pies minus the non-consensual bullshit. I loved this movie too. Fun female take that felt fairly accurate. Of course over blown and raunchy, but there is a time and place for that shit: and it’s American Pie.
This is the crap movie of al ages, fucking shit.
There's no reason for it to be an American Pie movie, besides them making Stephanie a Stifler to fill that quota. I mean, for fuck's sake, Eugene Levy isn't even in it. All the previous ones at least had him.
That said, I actually quiet liked this! The four main girls all have good chemistry with each other. The best scenes are the ones with at least two of them interacting. I found Piper Curda as Kayla especially really funny. Darren Barnet as Grant is kind of a charisma black hole which sucks because he's central to the whole thing, but I sort of liked how it was initially a mystery which of the four girls was meant to have him as a love interest. This is easily my favorite of the non-original cast American Pie movies, I can say that for sure.
Definitely need more movies that are female stories, including comedies and sexual exploration. butttt you can tell that this was directed by a man.
There was still plenty of typical tropes and lol the dialogue some moments..
For a female lead movie there was no female gaze, which is surprising considering its an "American pie" movie.. wheres the male nudity? There doesn't seem to be much humour either.
This is a high school movie so keep that in mind could be fun for younger audience. Still
it would be executed better if it was directed by woman
Way too careful. Way too politically correct.
The story is as weak as the guys in there, there’s a serious lack of embarrassment and even the cursing sounds like the Care Bears.
F:asterisk_symbol:cking, falling, miraculously wearing fully buttoned up pants. That’s amazing. Teach me that trick!
This is just a teenage movie and shouldnt be count for American Pie franchise. Luckily it is a 2020 movie otherwise it was getting more negative review than today.
It's anything but an American Pie movie.
This has nothing to do with American Pie ... How the hell did this movie get into that series? Few forced references without any context and that's all. Bad cast, poor dialogues...
Positives:
- Danny Trejo cameo
Negatives:
- Everything else
I don't know why I am always torturing myself with films like this...
What a weak connection to the American Pie franchise films, but I guess if it didn’t have that in the title then no one would even give this a watch.
Love that they cast the main dude as a 17 year old and he’s actually 29 in real life lol he doesn’t even look like a teenager either haha
How you know you are old? when you notice the main character is the little girl from "The Game Plan". :-)
I enjoyed the movie. But, is not your typical American Pie movie which I love. This feel like a more "safe" version using girls. no crazy or funny scene compared to the previous one. I think if they called it something else it would be an OK movie. Story was predictable and cute. few funny jokes here and there but not to the same level.
if you nothing else to do, is not bad.
American Pie? Seriously?
I have been American Pie fan since many years from American Pie 1 to American Reunion but this is just boring and it doesn't even feel like I'm watching an American pie movie.
Predictable: Yes!
But nice cast and nice music. Kind of cute story.. (: Just enjoy it!
They are trying to include more females in movies in 2020 and trying to give them more ways of being dominant. I get it, they did the same with doctor who and ghost busters. But unfortunately they have toned down this movie a lot, in terms of s:asterisk_symbol:x scenes and embarrassing moments that make these movies funny. This did not work with girls at all and especially when trying to intrude a female stifler.
It’s watchable but it’s not the original American pie. The first movies were so much better. With the embarrassment of one of those boys father.
The only good thing about this movie is the chemistry between the cast. The script is defiantly one of the worst of the year and was probably made by a horny 14-year-old. It's fine to watch once but you'll probably forget about it right after.
Worst movie of 2020, save yourself the 90 minutes and don't bother watching this sad excuse of an American Pie movie.

Ah, that was painful!
Granted, any movie from this franchise that doesn't involve the main bunch is always going to struggle. The other four releases without Jason Biggs & Co. are hit-and-miss, I liked two and disliked two to be specific. I remember thinking 'American Pie Presents: The Book of Love' was particularly bad, yet somehow this 2020 release has managed to drop the bar even lower.
On paper an 'American Pie' flick from the girls' perspective, rather than the boys', sounds cool and I could see that working well with creativity and effort attributed. Unfortunately, what's produced here is awful - from pretty much the very first few scenes. For a 90min movie, this dragged hard! I'm not sure who it's made for either, I can't see it's supposed demographic gaining anything from it; nor the general audience of this series.
Surprisingly, given how languid this film is throughout, the cast actually aren't a problem of the movie's, like at all. The acting standard is, at worst, decent, but sadly for them they are given absolutely zero to work with. Madison Pettis, Sara Rue and Lizze Broadway are solid. The latter is a relation of the Stifler, for no real reason, mind you. Oh, and Danny Trejo is in this... well, kinda. He bizarrely just lingers in the background of a few scenes, literally.
'American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules' could've been good made-for-DVD fluff. In actuality it is the definition of utter rubbish. An extract from Wikipedia sums it up, really: "It is the first film in the franchise to not feature Eugene Levy and also the first to contain no nudity".
