wtf did i just watch?
Not the Best film of Verhoeven,
Of course Isabelle Huppert is Great : Cold, Freaky, a good actress, like she is every time ...
I think the Philip Djian's Book is very much better than this Movie ...
Please read him : Philippe Djian is a great, very very great writer, The "must have" French Writer to read ;-)
Remenber "Betty Blue" ...
What the hell with French people?! Are all of them as crazy as these ones? The plot is good but how it was developed is not. Isabelle Huppert did a remarkable job as this mad woman who seems not to be able to overcome her past traumas. But the story, the characters, I mean... how is it possible that almost all characters behave this unreasonably. And it feels a bit long too.
Meh! I feel like I wasted 2 hrs.
The film goes in a very different direction than what you might expect from the description. I found that both extremely refreshing and interesting. Excellent film.

Goes nowhere you expect; this defies convention and is all the better for it. Disturbing, more so because of the cold, detached characters that inhabit this psychological thriller.
A pretty unique movie with especially a unique protagonist. I liked it, but it had some really out of place moments as well, and it felt kinda unaccomplished at the end. Overall good though.
Who knew Paul Verhoeven could be this complex and subtle? Despite being slightly long, the twists keep coming without ever slipping into voyeurism.
Poor. ... I watch alot of foreign films, many great French ones. But this one was so loosely connected between story elements, the characters not believable in their motivations, that it is not worth the time.
i watched this movie because Isabelle Huppert is nominated for an Oscar for this role, and, although her performance was complex and enigmatic, I truly don't know how I feel about the movie. For me, the mystery about this woman was not resolved. There is a question throughout the movie as to whether she was a victim or complicit in the violence that surrounds her life. When the credits rolled I still had no answer, and when faced with rating the movie, I fluctuated between a 9 (intense and compelling) out of 10, and a 6 (ambivalent and unfinished). I've settled on the 6. Was she a survivor or a monster? Do we need to decide or just observe?
A woman who's read: "The Second Sex" will chew you up... And spit you out.
I love French movies.
They are so different but interesting.
This movie is crazy as is good.
que hinooooo isabelle huppert eu te venero
Melhor filme de 2016 sem duvidas !!!
Loved it! Super fun and twisted in the best way.
Alluring weirdness, Isabelle Huppert is growing on me
Bizarre but utterly compelling. Huppert is magnifique.

Only Verhoeven or De Palma could’ve made this work. A rape comedy should be a disaster by all accounts, yet Verhoeven’s signature somehow compliments the material perfectly. It’s very absurd and pushes to some really interesting places, some of this reminded me of the scenes in Gone Girl where we’re following the Amy character. Not every choice taste is tasteful, but it wouldn’t be a Verhoeven film if it was. Isabelle Huppert is brilliant, such a unique character that could’ve so easily been portrayed as the typical cold, corporate bitch, but she makes something way more fun out of it. I also really enjoyed all the colourful supporting characters. Thematically, I love how it comments on guilt and power through a feminist lens, it defines adds some unique context to Verhoeven’s other work. The only thing that holds me back from loving it are the technical aspects. I really hate the ugly, washed out colour palette and obvious score choices he makes throughout. For something that’s otherwise so non-conformist, it looks and sounds too much like something Hollywood would produce. Still, it’s a really entertaining film that looking back on it might’ve planted the seeds for films like Promising Young Woman and The Invisible Man.
6.5/10
