Great movie. Even better would be if Ellen Page played the Roxy.
Why are people so annoying?
I loved the idea of the movie :P
Of course this movie won't do any good. It presents a criticism (sometimes valid, sometimes just subjective arrogance) and then for comedic effect suggests the solution is killing stupid people. Does anyone really think this is going to change anyones mind? It's preaching to the choir comedy, with a sprinkling of hypocrisy (intentional or unintentional, I don't know).
I was a huge fan of Bobcat's previous film, but this film was a huge disappointment.
It wasn't funny and the message was hypocritical
Good film. Kinda depressing though to think that there is no way to change the stupidity on the planet :/
Not great acting and contrived preachy dialogue in a satirical murder romp. It's supposed to be commentary and criticism on contemporary superficial American culture and politics, but honestly, to me it just feels like more or the same.
Also, righteous violent revenge upon a society of subhumans that understand nothing with an innocent teenage girl child that is become a staple of these movies... It does get into icky incel fantasy vibes.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with the base sentiment, and I assume this movie was made with good faith, but my feelings watching is that it might as well be another committee written derivative piece from research of how to expand low effort generic content into this other market.
It was like Super meets Falling Down. Everyone had flip phones and made dated political commentary. Feet in the moonlight.
From comedian Bobcat Goldthwait comes the dark satire God Bless America. It’s the story of a mild mannered guy who snaps after learning that he has a brain tumor, and decides to go on a killing spree. While there are a lot of funny scenes, the overall tone of the film is inconsistent. It tries to offer some social commentary about the state of pop culture and the debasement of society, but the plot’s too unfocused for its messages to have any kind of poignancy. Yet despite its weakness, God Bless America is an entertaining comedy that delivers some good laughs.
I like what this movie was conveying about how people suck, but dark humor is hit or miss with me, and the visuals and the violence were over the top for me. In part it was as if it increasingly became less about being upset that people in this world aren't decent to each other and more about nitpicking over what they personally disliked in others; as if they were just so much better and cooler than everyone else based on their interests and disinterests. That's really just about as crappy of a mentality to have as not considering your actions can affect others; because you're aware enough and kind enough to do so, but not kind enough to accept that people are different and are essentially holding yourself up on a pedestal. But I mean, it's hard for me to get behind "violence is the answer," although it obviously wasn't; because while they "rid" the world of a bunch of its "problems" they also died in the end and the world hadn't changed! There was no useful or meaningful message left behind, only the havoc and terror they wreaked. Instead of trying to do anything positive, they just added more negative to it all. Also, I think Juno is a pretty great movie! Not perfect, but maybe even deserving of a superb.
Not just a Movie; A wake up call that sadly won´t do any good.
Quite an enjoyable movie in my opinion.
Los 15 primeros minutos son el mejor análisis de esa hipócrita sociedad americana
Seconded time around, and I can tell you shots were on target... still got me laughing... anything can happen on a bad day... XD
Good cultural satire to a point. I think you'll either relate to this movie and the main character or you'll be offended as it pokes fun at the majority
But this is also a fun movie so don't take it too serious. It's very silly at its heart. I thought the end was beginning to get cheesy but it stopped mid cheese.
HALF SPOILER
How did the girl come back at the end? The ending was rushed and it fell apart a bit.
One of the best film I've seen after Super! Such a great time!
Chill out people, it is not meant to be taken seriously but what a relief to watch it goddddd!
There's always ONE person in your life that annoy the hell out of youe and this film is just THE solution to feel so good about yourself and your life :D
Brilliant film!
Is it just me, or does she looks A LOT like Lucy Lawless??
Also, I suggest you watch this movie: http://trakt.tv/movie/the-yes-men-fix-the-world-2009 (the BP take) to get a glimpse of how stupid and greedy people (specially corporate Americans) can be.
Indeed, very good movie.
