For our poll to determine the 100 greatest American films, we surveyed 62 film critics from around the world. This time, we received responses from 177 – from every continent except Antarctica. Some are newspaper or magazine reviewers, others write primarily for websites; academics and cinema curators are well-represented too. For the purposes of this poll we have decided that a list of the greatest films of the 21st Century should include the year 2000, even though we recognise that there was no ‘Year Zero’ and that 2001 is mathematically the start of the century. Not only did we all celebrate the turn of the millennium on 31 December 1999, but the year 2000 was a landmark in global cinema, and, in particular, saw the emergence of new classics from Asia like nothing we had ever seen before.

This is a complete list of every movie that has ever been included in the various editions of 1001 movies. Given that I only own one edition of the physical book, this is a easier way to keep track of what has been (once) considered essential viewing.

Best Psychosexual Movies of All Time
Movies with Psychosexual plot in any form (drama, crime, fiction, science fiction and fantasy, comedy, mystery, horror, thriller e.t.c.)

Definition: A psychosexual film relating to the mental aspects of sex, such as sexual fantasies or having to do with the psychological aspects of sexuality in contrast to the physical aspects. They go beyond the typical boy-meets-girl trope and delve into deep-seated, complex, Freudian narratives of sexual identity and sexual drive theory. Romance is often used to sublimate many of these desires but it is the advent of the psychosexual thriller that makes explore how repressed desires can soon turn into the depths of sexual depravity and other nightmares (mental ailments such as neurosis, hysteria, female hysteria, or personality disorder, identity conflicts etc).

Characteristics: sexual fantasies, sexual obsessions, Femme Fatale archetype (seductive woman / high self-esteem -vs- submissive woman / low self-esteem), sexual manipulation, domination, voyeurism, sadomasochistic affairs, sexual dysfunctions, paraphilia, oedipus complex, electra complex, penis envy, castration anxiety and gender identity disorders.

They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? (TSPDT) is a modest but growing film resource dedicated to the art of motion picture filmmaking and most specifically to that one particular individual calling the shots from behind the camera - the film director.

This list is based on TSPDT's 1,000 Greatest Films, a list compilated by Bill Georgaris using thousands of best-of/all-time lists.

A scoop of sexual, a dash of sensual and a pinch of taboo.

List of movies with lesbians in it that I want to watch (or already watched). I decided to let all movies inside if someone needs inspiration for their own list.

The representation is not always well done so be careful if it is what you wanted. But for a good watching challenge, it works.

What’s a mindfuck? A movie that plays with your mind, confuses you, and leads you on. It’s not just a movie with a twist ending. Mindfucks are borderline-incoherent, dreamlike, and surreal.

Surrealism in cinema refers to the use of dreamlike and irrational elements in films to create a unique visual style that challenges conventional notions of reality. It originated from the artistic movement of surrealism in the 1920s and 30s, which sought to tap into the subconscious mind through the use of irrational imagery and symbolism. In film, surrealism often employs techniques such as discontinuous editing, unexpected imagery, and the use of special effects to create a dream-like atmosphere and to challenge the viewer's perception of reality. The aim of surrealist films is to provoke an emotional and intellectual response from the audience, and to blur the boundaries between the conscious and the unconscious mind.
