Great film, loved the 80s throwback too, the music from the band is really entertaining!
Unfortunately the end becomes really cheesey and even has a misplaced pop song which lets the film down a bit, but it's still a good watch.
A nostalgia blast for anybody who grew up in the 1980's. Wonderful cast and infectious music, this was right up my street.
A really great film, wish I could find more movies like this that just hit every emotion. It's a feel good movie that hits emotional elements also very funny, good romance, and great music.
I want to live inside this film
Made me nostalgic for an era that I never had the pleasure of knowing. The 80’s references were simply fabulous.
80s music, geek love .. what more can one ask for on a Sunday afternoon.
What's a boy to do growing up in a crappy town, with parents on the cusp of calling it a wrap, with a stoner brother who's pretty much checked out of life, and you the get transferred to the public school where you don't know anyone and are NOT one of the cool kids? Of course..., you spy your future muse from afar, and invite her to be in a video with your band..., but, uh, you don't have a band yet. No worries cuz:
"This is your life,
You can go anywhere....
You gotta grab the wheel and own it,
And drive it like you stole it.
Roll it!"
Newcomer Ferdia Walsh-Peelo is the boy. Perpetual muse Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) is the girl, and Jack Reynor (Kin) once again plays a troubled brother, while 1980's Dublin Ireland is where they all want to escape from. A coming of age and finding yourself drama that never veers into schmaltz, with a throwback 80's soundtrack that defies you not to bob your head and dance. This is the movie "La La Land" WISHED it could be, and, while it was criminally snubbed come awards time, word of mouth will keep this one being popped into DVD players, and streamed long after it's over hyped rival is just a faded memory. Remember:
"This is your life
You can be anything....
You gotta learn to rock and roll it,
You gotta put the pedal down...
And drive it like you stole it!"
Great movie! I really enjoyed! Absolutely 8/10
What a beautiful film, get it watched guys!
A more optimistic "The Commitments". And I love that Maria Doyle Kennedy had a role!
Pure joy! and the best look down the Camara since "The 400 Blows".
I don't get the hype for this movie. It's sort of a love story, a little bit of musical, some coming of age, some comedy but it brings none of it to its core. There's barely any real conflict and the whole plot is very linear and without any real surprises and twists. Yes, the movie is fun to watch and you'll find yourself laughing and smiling here and there. But for me personally the movie was not able to catch me. Compared to movies like "Scott Pilgrim Vs the world" a lot of potential is unused.
Great music selection! :clap_tone1::clap_tone1:
There is indeed singing. And there is indeed a street.
good movie, i like the sing
8.3/10! Absolutely dreaming, magical with some great perfomances! Chase your dreams like hell no matter what and dont give up until the end!
I absolutely loved this movie. The characters, the way they acted, the romance and most important: the message. Go out there and chase your dreams! Make them become true, and if it doesn't work at least you tried! It really inspired me to chase my own dreams. I recommend!
I love the 80s music so this film did me good. Very joyful, pleasant and right to the point of that era, you get a nice warm feeling at the end. Loved the songs definitely robbed by a nomination in this year oscars
Great soundtrack, and a very good feel good film. You could really get invested into the characters, and therefore the storyline. Even if the romance side was predictable at times, that didn't matter since the way the story was told was done brilliantly.
Would definitely recommend.
great movie i enjoyed it !!
It's a decent film. I enjoyed this. I would rate it 6/10

Homage to 80s music, first love and big brothers. This was a pleasant surprise in last night's sneak preview. One of the best music movies I have ever seen and easily a top 5 movie for 2016. Watch it!
