Curtis has always been the levelheaded, cool-under-pressure guy. Why do they have to make him the unreasonable one now?
The various presidents of this show sure do toss aside the "we don't negotiate with terrorists" stance quite quickly. Why on earth would they think that Fayed would keep his word? Come on, people, use your brain.

Starting coming back to me one of the reasons I disliked this season.
They tease you with an interesting plot beat and character arc and then drop it as fast as they introduce it.
Jack's "I don't know how to do this anymore" in the previous episode could have been a very interesting character direction but it's been quickly forgotten about.
