Ah, James Purefoy. Always a treat! (Diana, however, is a character that I have some trouble liking. I wish the snowflakeyness of this show was a bit... less.)
The present-day stuff continues to be FAR more entertaining for me, and once again that is NOT a reflection on the two leads at all. They're doing the best that they can in the past with the scripts that they're given; it's just that the scripts continue to be largely boring and full of pacing problems. Meanwhile, the contemporary stuff moves along at a terrific clip and is far more engaging.

Isn't Diana a historian?
If so, she should know that love wasn't of any concern in the consideration for mariage in the late 16th century. At least not in circles near the crown (basically any crown).
