There's definitely a lot to unpack here.

So far, BoJack's entire character has been defined by his childhood trauma (later evolving into his self-destructive tendencies) - and we see here that all of it stemmed from his grandfather.

While Beatrice is definitely to be held accountable for her shitty behaviour towards BoJack, at the same time it's ultimately her father's fault.

This episode helps us understand her trauma by showing us her past through her fragmented memories of what happened over the course of her life.

You still can't be sympathetic towards her, but you can at least understand why she does it.

A series that never seems to stop surprising me both in it's darkness, it's humour and often it's ability to give an emotional response.

For various reasons that would be more suited to an episode of Fraiser, this one hit home and hit home hard.

Many people think animation generally isn't for adults. But if it's for children why did this episode bring a tear or two to the eye?
