I was very intrigued by the 1st ep, then it was all just YA, and a bad YA when the main damsel is always in distress not interesed in survival at all, constantly saved by someone. To the 8th ep I didn't know where the story is leading... Idk, not enough lore and magic and too much politics and talking and betraying. We have 1 ep with 99% of the lore from the entire season, maybe 3 scene fighting with the sword and coupe marvelous (but still only couple).
I mean I get a tragic character but shoudn't she maybe try to use her powers before the sword? So we could see she tried everything and fail? It could be more believable with more episodes but I barely watched this 10. The idea is very good but it lacked in so much departments. The romance was the most believable things... when everyone was changing just because, without any feeling or after one encounter with sth. I feel 6ish but I'm giving 7 just bc I want to see more of such stories. I like the main idea so much, just half the events were misguided. I don't regret watching this.
The gore death were unexpected and awesome tho.
This is a rehash of The Lord of the Rings. The same thing. One sword to rule them all. The sword turns whoever holds the word. There's even a spider-demon like Shelob. But there is a difference - this is utter rubbish!
The LotR guide for Cursed!!!
Ring -> Sword,
The Fellowship -> Assorted Fey folks with some random humans thrown in,
Saruman -> The Church,
Shelob -> Cailleach,
Mount Doom -> The Fey fire,
Frodo -> Nimue,
Bilbo -> Merlin,
Samwise Gamgee -> Arthur,
Let's stop at that! Now I guess Nimue(who is obviously alive), will have a son, and name him after his father, Arthur. And he will grow up and claim the sword. Throw in some insomnia as well. Get in some goblins, and elves. Make Nimue's son a time traveller, and let him save his mom from the waterfall. That will make a better Season 2!
I mean, whoever wrote this was either very high on a very wrong kind of substance, or just plain cursed, pun intended! And it ends with a whimper. They were busy setting up the sequel to just focus on the finale. And the casting is just wrong. Katherine Langford just does not become the character she plays. Hated it.

The whole series was really bad as it is written in many reviews by viewers and professional reviewers as well. I think it is on the level with Shadowhunters, that is, a C-class fantasy show, much worse than "The Legend of the Seeker", where there was lots of humour and the characters were much more likeable. Now, here the showrunners did nothing to make me care even a little bit for the protagonists. They also demolished the Arthurian legend in such a way that it is not possible to repair it in a second season, which I hope is not coming. Of course you can experiment with the Arthurian mythos but in such a way that makes sense, not changing the characters' fates without any underlying idea. The characters could have been just any random fantasy blokes, they did not need the Arthurian names.
It says a lot about a show when the intro is better than the actual show. It is the case with "Cursed", as the animations in the intro were quite interesting and for me, the best part of the whole series. Just like with "Shadowhunters," I find myself wondering which kind of makeup Nimue wears, since the acting and plot itself was so bland there was nothing else to think about. Luckily it only had 10 episodes and not 3 seasons like the aforementioned "Shadowhunters."
It can definitely be recommended to beginner writers who want to learn by example what storytelling mistakes to avoid at all costs. Or, alternatively, if you want to have a good laugh, the show provides numerous absurdities that can be made fun of. Otherwise, avoid.
