Overall a bit too wonky and vonveluted for me...
"a convoluted, meandering plot that ends in a whimper"
Well, I guess it accomplished its goals.
Weak episode and season finale. I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting it to be better.
So after alot of swearing and plot twists, Mr nobody dumps us in this mess of an episode. what happened, did they get Star Wars-ish and let directors just keep changing the story.. disappointed.. was hoping for all out brawl, but got a big wet fish slap.
This was a very, very disappointing "timeline" end. The episode as a whole is not so bad. But the ending itself would be a bad ending already if was a common episode ending. As a final episode ending it was "fuck me what an awfully bad smelly fuck fucking fucked ending!"...
And i thought that the umbrella ending was bad ;)
This was a weak ending to a great season.
Did you expect perfect ending from a group of fucked up “heroes”?! Of course the ending would be as fucked up as the heroes. Brilliant!
I cannot believe I let myself watch this to the end after it was recommended as "really good". I do not foresee myself wasting time on the second season shat has already started.
Wait... This is the ending? I thought we were gonna, at least, get one more episode. WTF? This ending is kind of weak (but much much better when compared to Titans).
Well, I suppose if Mr. Nobody was going to bolster his post-revenge-high mood-crash by getting stoned on blue Curaçao and then stumble-magic his drunken way into a doomed corner (on Danny Street in a psychoactive paintingspace with... them) and then, at his desolate lowest, get pep-talk coached into wresting back enough narrative control to guide everyone else out while forgetting to account for himself...
As I now think back over the many weirdly assorted elements of this episode, they do fit together into a chaotically odd but functional collage. And, think about it: if the seriously wacky-weird world that is Doom Patrol is going to escalate all the layers of wacky it's built thus far into an appropriately wacky and intense climax (too soon?), that does sound about right, doesn't it?
OTOH, as the credits were first rolling, I did have a minute or so of "what in Beebo's name did I just watch?!" going on there.
The improbability drive was working overtime with this one.
