After the 5-6th rewatch of the entire series over the past few years, I think it helps to remind yourself that Rachel was, as the makers later said, meant to be this selfish, snobby person (aside from also being this wonderful person we grow to love more and more every episode) and Jennifer Aniston did just a fantastic job of playing that role, balancing out those character flaws while also maintain a character personality that's truly hard not to love...that it all just makes sense.
I do feel bad that every season we blame Ross for every single thing that goes wrong between our lobsters which is unfair, but truth is, THAT is what Rachel as a character was supposed to be. She makes mistakes and doesn't take responsibility for them and she lies and sometimes selfishly turns things around on Ross and blames him for everything even when she is at fault. That's just what the character was supposed to be.
