This episode was pretty stupid, then they added an annoying product placement for some truck.

I liked how the previous season's episodes revolved around one case and how the team go about solving it. Practical, tactical action. Incorporating this dream-world and a dark version of the main character just throws it all off course, as though we're now supposed to think of the show as more of a sci-fi drama than a action adventure.

I understand that the writers were pressed for time given the season needing to end abruptly due to Covid, but this new path is just completely irrelevant and isn't capturing my attention as it should. Is it entertaining? Yes - somewhat. Can the show be redeemed from this, though? No, I'm not certain, especially since it feels like this Dark!Mac is gonna be around until the finale, so we're probably gonna have to deal with it for the rest of the season.

I feel like this episode is the beginning of the end of this show. It wasn't the best show but I really enjoyed S1, S2 and S3 but now they went full bananas: End of the world plot? Dark MacGyver plot? What's next aliens? The show was much more fun with case of the week type of story and more character build and development.

Without Jack, the show feels less of a buddy adventurer show. Either way it is still not as good as the original show.
This version has always been entertaining though. Just not worthy of being called Macgyver.
