Ugh it truly irritates me how much they invest in tiles and custom wallpaper instead of in the stuff that really matters (ha, I’m complaining as if it were my money!) but they keep talking about being on a budget so I’m like ??? That bathroom floor tile is a priority?? And is it just me but are those rooms not family friendly? First of all they got rid of the sitting area (chairs and table) and put a wood bench instead, they got rid of the tv/mirror cabinet, and that’s like the first spot we interact with in a motel/hotel, they didn’t even have bedside tables, they had like a little wood circle between the two beds and it was tiny and most of its space was used by that giant alarm clock, then all the storage was under the bed and that seems a little impractical, same with all the “art”, the mirror didn’t seem secured to the wall, kids are always running around they could easily shatter it, the picture on the bed frame wasn’t nailed to the wall, so you could end up knocking it down? the neon sign, the plants, everything seems impractical and not family friendly, influencer friendly it is, but I don’t think that town is an influencer hotspot? So who’s the target market? Millennial women and instagram moms? Cause I don’t think families local to that area (not only that town) are gonna love it, or will they? And I don’t mean cause it’s ugly or anything, but I don’t think what they want to do and what they are doing aligns with what they say they are doing about it being family friendly and I think the contractor said that’s the only motel in town so I feel like there’s more needs to cover than just rosé and neon signs. Like when they were thinking what to do in the A frame building I was thinking more about targeted to the community and even a place where locals could gather and do something, but they were just like rosé bar! Tho I like the gift shop idea cause they could source products from local vendors! I’m very invested in this cause when I was younger I used to road trip through the states with my family, we crossed the border in car and then drove around and stayed at shitty motels, and all we wanted was a safe, clean space, a decent bathroom and food nearby.
