I am three episodes in and I love it. It may be inspired by things we've seen before, but it feels completely different. It's not going to be for everyone - don't expect slapstick, or really much action. It feels like it's own thing, and I like it.
4-10 poor
I watch every episode, hoping, praying, pleading that it would get better or maybe improve……
It just didn’t!!!!
Now I like slow moving thought provoking drama, but this takes slow moving to a whole new level, it basically sends you to sleep and just as your nodding off, a action scene pops up to wake you up.
Thing is the action is few and far in between and your heart rate doesn’t go up with it…..
Out of the all the episodes only one stands out and that’s the last one, there might be one more episode but I can’t say I can pick one of the top of my head.
Yes it focuses heavily on the relationship side of things, but the couple are boring and uninteresting, John might have been alright, but Jane was such a bitch and boring as hell that the character sucked all the life out of the relationship and the show itself….
Yes I did watch it all, every single episode, why???
Just pure hope and wanting it to work, hoping that the next episode it will finally kick off, but it didn’t…..
Some how the last few minutes of each episode came to life and gives you what the whole episode should have been like, but minutes at the end of each 50-60min show won’t save it…..
I liked the original - I like this better. It focuses on the relationship a lot more, which I think is a strength. It's not ground breaking, but it's also not bad. It's a decent spy show, with decent writing. They dynamic is more realistic than I thought it would be coming into it.
Nice cinematography. Other than a couple who are in a marriage and happen to be mercenaries, there's nothing much in common between this show and the movie. This isn't an action packed show. The show focuses more on the awkward relationship the two mercenaries end up in rather than their missions. The name Mr. & Mrs. Smith sets the wrong expectations. With any other name, this show would have received more positive feedback, since it's not terrible.
Can't get over how annoying the male lead actor is, the female not far behind. Watching it with the hope it gets better but I get the feeling dissapointment is immenent
All the people watching this and commenting here have attached themselves to the idea of Mr & Mrs Smith from 2005 with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when this IP is far older than that and has historically never been as action packed as the 2005 one. This is a similar take on spies and love when forced to be with one another but is far more similar to Donald Glover's other project Atlanta. There's shades of magical realism, bold faced satire into modern life and a lot of dry humour but dialed back on the "magical" a fair bit. The show is not meant to show these hyper-competent super assassins, it's a look into two people navigating a torrid relationship filled with ups and downs. The spying is background noise and mostly pure setup considering how ridiculous it is and how clearly incompetent everyone involved in the org is despite all the cloak and dagger. It's also hilarious.
People truly are missing the point by asking for "more action" and one idiot calling it "woke" and other nonsense. It's not for everyone but I'd say give it a chance, especially when it's just 8 fairly short episodes.
Very bad series to bear the title Mr. & Mrs. Smith. It's boring and dragging. There are a lot of story that can be made into realistic life story, this one is not one of them. It's supposed to be fun and exciting, not boring and emotionally dragging.
If there is 1 redeeming quality, there would be the guest stars are a kot of fun, especially Ron Perlman who stole the episode.
I can't recommend this series, such a waste of time.
This is the best new show of 2024 so far.
even if you completely ignore the title of this show and judge it simply by its own merit, this show is still not that good.. it's just some sort of awkward getting to know each other type of series and in the end it just ends up being boring. if it wanted to be some sort of romance series, the attraction just feels awkward at best but mostly forced and rushed. it feels like one of those series that critics might praise for some artsy reason that just doesn't resonate with the audience, or at least not with me..
The series had absolutely no reason to use that name. Many episodes are boring and emotionless.
Poor & perverted spy x family imitation that was altered to suit the horny western audience at expense of all its charm and quality
In the series Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the promise of a captivating adaptation of the original movie is quickly undone. The potential for an engaging story is wasted on monotonous dialogues and uninteresting characters. The title suggests a plot full of action and romance, but what we find are two people talking incessantly, without offering anything substantial. The lack of chemistry between the protagonists contributes to the boredom that pervades each episode. Additionally, the absence of significant elements from the original film leaves viewers questioning the reason for using the name of the original work. Instead of paying homage to the movie, the series seems to only capitalize on its fame, without truly honoring its essence. Action moments are scarce and poorly executed, leaving much to be desired in terms of entertainment. It's disappointing to see a potentially thrilling adaptation reduced to a series of tedious and uninteresting conversations. In the end, it's another example of a work that fails to capture the magic of the original, becoming just a pale shadow of what could have been.
There's yet another example of a son wiping his ass with his father's work. The heir always fulfilling his purpose. Congratulations to those involved.
Into the 4th episode and iv seen more action in my local pub on a sat night
Why did they start the show with sexy people, kill them, then base the show on plain looking boring people?
I lost interest when the sexy people died. Clearly this is not for me. They took away the reason to keep watching, and made it just dull boring people doing dull boring things.
I don't support the move towards non-attractive, unsexy, boring characters and actors in Hollywood for the sake of diversity.
I just finished watching the first 2 episodes at theater as part of Prime Video and Cinemark premiere partnership. The show is promising, I will definitely watch the rest of it.
This is absolute rubbish!!! Very disappointed.
This is what happens when you take an awesome idea and "woke" it. And that is the whole focus of this series, being "woke".
Totally unbelievable characters, spending hours exploring their feelings, really not a lot of action, and really hard to invest in anything in this story. I really tried to watch all of it, but after the 5th episode I keep falling asleep - I just don't care what else happens - I'm expecting Jane to discover she's gay, and John to fall in love with a white person, to complete the wokeness.
Very slow, and not like the movie at all, if that is what you're expecting - skip this.
Redeems itself a little in the last episode, bringing it all together and closer to the movie story.
Dumb. Let’s take a movie and add DEI garbage to it.
Firstly, this show has virtually nothing in common with the movie. It’s basically two people (both actors here are the worst examples of miscasting I have seen in ages), who share a life together and are supposed to be top contract killers. The actual story however is entirely about them trying to find their way through their relationship problems. I mean that’s it, in its entirety, with 15 minute story lines each stretched out to an hour. Some folks I guess might like it, for me it’s just slow and as dull as dishwater with quite literally no redeeming moments. I’d rather read a telephone book.
Really good on the characters, good show!
Mr. & Mrs. Smith - :heart:x6
If you are looking for a good actioner - this is not it. This is heavy on Drama and a lot of mundane dialogue. Episode 8 was really good - it finally got interesting.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Loved this, totally my kind of show
8 episodes, I enjoyed 2 of them. Needed more action and less RomCom relationship drama.
I enjoyed this series it was fun, exciting, and thrilling. Loved the journey and the love portrayed throughout their journeys
I loved this series. I wasn't sure at first if I would like it, but it won me over quickly. It is more of a slow burn series, but moves quickly and has amazing pockets of action. The dialogue and pacing all feel very modern. The chemistry between Donald and Maya is fantastic. They're both intriguing and dynamic to watch together and solo of one another. I wouldn't think of either of them as action stars, but they wear that surprisingly well. I like that we had moments to focus on their relationship while learning more about the company. The fight sequences are filmed incredibly well. They all feel like believable fights and movements. I particularly love episode 5's cinematography. In addition to all of that, you get some really fun cameos - I am always excited to see Parker Posey on my screen. I enjoyed the ride through out from start to finish. Hope there is a second season!!
I'm just so tired of seeing the affirmative action POC remakes. Seriously they're never as good as the originals. Donald Glover is no match for Brad Pitt and Maya Erskine? Seriously for one of the most timeless gorgeous faces ever in Hollywood? Angelina Jolie would have been a star in any generation of Hollywood, who will remember Maya Erskine? Don't you guys get tired of these low-quality remakes and adaptations? Rehashed ideas with middling talent does not add up to a winning formula. Yes, I watched all the episodes, what a disappointment.
I really hope the bullets weren't for Jane
I think their ultimate mission was to bore me to death. Acting poor - writing poor - storylines poor. Just bad TV all round.
‘Genre’ - Action, Adventure, Drama, Comedy.
There was none of the above. The only laughable thing about this would be if they commissioned a 2nd series.
Guess that’s what happens when you write produce and make yourself a lead character.
Only Sly Stallone can get away with that!
Started off so-so (episode 1) 8/10,
Second episode wasn't very good and then it tanked from that point on.
Third episode was very bad even compared to episode 3. Half of it could have been removed and maybe it would have been better. 3/10
Episodes 4 and 5 were no improvement and really started to question my judgment of continuing with this series.
Really bad from episode 6-8 and the finale was waaaay over the top and stupid.
Won't be back for a season 2 that's for sure
3/10 overall
First 4 episodes were ok, after that total trash. I will not recommend this series.
Went in not know how it was going to be
Wasn’t to bad but wasn’t good
Was positively surprised at the beginning but it falls off in the middle and only picks up at the end again.
Would rate the beginning a 7. At episode 5 more like a 4.
American woke show, nothing more.
I liked it. It felt like Lost in Translation made a spinoff of the original movie. It wasn't just endless action, but focused on the two imperfect main characters.
I don't know what's up with the bad comments and low rating, I almost made me skip the show but I liked it. It has it's "own" style but it's good. Not a 10 but definitely a 8 and worth a watch.
I have watched TWO episodes and I must state the following:
What a strange universe. There are no police, surveillance cameras, journalists or security companies. Instead, there are special service-like companies operating to murder people. Yet in such a universe devoid of defenders of order, there is no widespread anarchy!
good humour and good actors, evil version of the samaritan in poi?
Show and season 1 rated a 8.7
strange and indulgent and silly
Judging by the comments this show has a bit of a identify problem. Having the title Mr and Mrs Smith draws in people who enjoyed the movie but gives them nothing related to it (except the obvious opening ‘joke’ couple) But at the same time the title alienates anyone who would enjoy this slow, thoughtful cinematic look at married life. Was confused why Donald Glover would be in this till I watched it.
So slow. I really can't see a second season in this slepper of a series.
Some ok parts nut a lifeless show
Not Great, but not bad either and a good time waster. If you are thinking of subscribing or renewing don't base your decision on this show. Not worth the cost of the subscription, but ok if you are already subscribed.

It's... great... although by episode 4 you realise it's going to be a slow paced, slow burn and it seems to be focusing on the relationship more than any action.
