Nikki and Nora are deep under cover, in hot pursuit, and in search of a quiet moment alone with one another. They're also renovating their house and getting into into snits over 'their' new favorite jacket. See? Hot cops bicker just like the rest of us.
Meet the lawyer (Armin Shimerman) who tries to keep Nikki and Nora's finances together while they're off solving crimes, the NOLA police officers (Janina Gavankar & Jim Beaver) who watch their backs, and the grieving girlfriend (Aasha Davis) who hopes Nikki and Nora will take her case.
Nikki & Nora dig into the Violet Craig case with a not-so-good friend of Violet & Daniel's, as well as an old flame of Nikki's (Wallace Langham); the ladies reminisce about their old house (and their old tub); and they explore the roles of their families in their lives.
Hewitt scores Nikki & Nora a moment with Daniel's mother; Nora 'parlez-vous francais' to get info from Daniel's former employer (Simon of New Orleans); Mortenberger (Wallace Langham) and Violet (Aasha Davis) give Nikki and Nora new crumbs to follow.
The girls play nice by visiting Nora's mom (Tess Harper), but old wounds linger; Arliss (Jim Beaver) shows that he's a fan of all Delaney's; Nikki and Nora finally take Lea (Janina Gavankar) out on the town, follow the crumbs to someone who was with Daniel in his final days. Could a song be the key to this case?
The girls revisit a reluctant witness who's still not happy to see them; Arliss (Jim Beaver) and Lea (Janina Gavankar) back the ladies up; a hot pursuit ends with an ambulance; Nikki saunters into an undercover assignment; and Nikki and Nora get one step closer to finding out why Daniel Reid died.
In the season finale, Nikki goes undercover as a chantreuse in red, Nora guards Nikki (and every gal at the bar), Handy Joe faces some tough questions, and Violet and Dottie Reid find some peace.
