Season 2 of Once Upon a Time proves to have a bit of magic, but it’s not as focused as Season 1. Jumping the shark from the get go, the series violates its premise by introducing historical figures into the mix, which creates an uneven tone. The series also weakens its storytelling ability by breaking up the main cast into two separate plot lines. Yet, overall the season follows the residents of Storybrooke, who have regained their fairy tale identities (with the breaking of the curse) but remain trapped within the city limits, and must face new villains that threaten to destroy them. It’s not a bad story arc, but the execution is hit-and-miss. Still, a host of new and exciting characters, including Sleeping Beauty, Captain Hook, and Dr. Frankenstein, are introduced. It takes a while, but eventually the second season of Once Upon a Time gets back to the compelling storytelling and action packed adventures that made the show a hit.

MY THOUGHTS ON SEASON 2:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
Another brilliant season! Yet again from start to finish I loved this season, the new characters are a great addition and the dynamics with the new and old characters are great. I actually love it when they introduce new characters because it makes me think "Oh, I wonder how Rumple will react to him/her?"
So with this season we got to learn a lot about certain characters backstory and life before Storybrooke, we also got to find out a few bloodline connections that none of us saw coming... RUMPLE IS HENRY'S GRANDFATHER?! I love how they throw these twists and turns at you that you'd never expect. It really leaves me excited for the next season.
One character that I really enjoyed watching and learning more about was Henry's father Bae, I feel like he is extremely misunderstood and he's made out to seem like this pathetic excuse for a human and a deadbeat father when in reality he loves Henry just as much as Emma does. I also love watching Rumple attempt tor rekindle his and Bae's relationship yet failing pretty much every time. Part of my actually feels sorry for Rumple because you can really tell deep down in his cold dark heart he wants to change and do better but at the same time he's terrified of losing the power and control that he has so he puts up this wall that not even his son can break down.
Overall I really enjoyed this season, seeing Hook, Bae and Rumple all interact was amazing. I can't wait for Season 3, Neverland here we come!! I have a feeling it's going to be a brilliant season and it's be extremely enjoyable to watch, just like this season was. My only downfall though would be Henry yet again... That boy can NOT act! It's painful watching him next to actors such as Robert Carlyle!
