Never forgetting the shot of Selena Gomez and Martin Short pushing drugged Steve Martin around in a stroller.
The show is so rock-solid in characters and vibe that even though I'm just a tiny bit let down by case's resolution (it isn't too out of place with the tone, but I feel like Amy Ryan's character is written too cartoonishly cackling, even if the performer chews it up well), this is still a very entertaining finale. Dat confidence of starting this season with next season's case though, lol!
Tim Kono's murderer was no surprise, given what was revealed on episode 9. But some people overthought this, thinking it’s more complicated than it was, and decided Jan seems too obvious to be the murderer, so now are disappointed. But the show is first and foremost a comedy, and a murder mystery second. Considering how the plot of this show was so stupid, one must watch it to enjoy Steve and Martin's comedic talents, and the humor because as a mystery it's just awful.
I don't have a problem with the reveal, however, Jan got uncharacteristically sloppy in the final, and that was kind of unsatisfying. Especially that cliche confrontation (when Jan didn't even see Mabel) made me want to roll my eyes. It felt too much like a Bond villain.
The elevator scene with Charles, and his neighbors, was one of the funniest scenes in the whole show.
I like that Oliver was pushing around all of their recording equipment in a dog stroller. And then even wheeling Charles around.
Charles remembered Mabel telling him he didn't need to sign his name on his texts.
"Lonely guys with notable age differences I met in an elevator." - I like the comment about how both relationships are age-inappropriate.
I wanted season 2 to be an entirely separate case, maybe revolving around the popularity of the podcast or something like that. I understand that the writers used the opening scene of the show to keep the audience hooked for another season, but the mystery wasn't fully solved, and that left us with way too many questions. My biggest one - why did the police cover up the toxicology report?
Looking forward for season 2!
Enjoyed it in general. But what is it about Selina's all-time cringed face throughout the whole season?
What a delightful season! The wait for season two will be murderous!
Sensational! Not much to say cause this show was awesome! Different, fresh, fun, good vibes, entertaining!
How genius was starting the season with the cliffhanger for next season! Ha! Can’t wait for it.
this was so fun to watch! can't wait for season 2
Great show. I don't know why there is always a tendency to want another season. Can you not just leave it be? Statistically speaking, it's almost guaranteed to be worse than the first season. Anyway, I won't be surprised if S2 flies completely under the radar even.
What a perfect ending! Keep me
What a show. Really really enjoyed this. Good story that got me hooked for the whole season. It has very interesting characters. Martin Short's character has lots of LOL moments. Also the interaction is great too. Truly highly recommended!
After the first half it was so boring and weird.
The start was great...
I knew at the start she did it so obvious
Killer ending (pun intended). What a delight this season has been. Sign me up for Season 2.
I loved the episode, but how dumb can Oliver and Mabel be by not wearing any type of gloves? Why not wear rubber gloves like before?
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Didn’t guess the killer and that twist at the end has me excited for a second season.
yea I'll do season 2 that was a good finale
I mean i kind of guessed who the reveal was gonna be but it was executed well and I like the theatrics, and can't wait to binge s2 now, I love this trio!
Some wonky staging of the final standoff aside, this is a marvelous capper to what has been a marvelous season of offbeat murder mystery tv. The characters, the reveals, the stylistic choice of narrator every episode. The way we go from cold-blooded chills to watching a half-paralyzed Steve Martin somehow traverse multiple levels of an apartment building while on his back (my dad and I were howling). Every piece of the plot falls perfectly into place. Amy Ryan, holy hell! And that ending has me giddy to dive into season 2.
Oh damn I forgot that was the opener to the season! And also about the other podcast set in the future. That's how you know a show has done a good job! Loved the finale, genuine laugh out loud moments with this cast.
Didn't like the ending, but still give it a 9/10
Charles, bundled up, drooling in the basement, was evocative of another famous scene where corks were placed onto forks to keep him from poking himself in the eye -- quietly physical comedy now -- so removed from, "The Jerk," (which I just thought was annoying). So glad to've learned about his time at Disneyland, and been witness to really great stuff, like, "Grand Canyon." "Roxanne," & "LA Story."
Enjoyed all the actors/characters!
Isn't it great that Mabel was picking up the knife and the ring with her bare hands getting her prints and DNA on everything? Lol Jan said how being second is a trigger for her, it made me immediately think about the young girl who is the first chair bassoonist, could her life be in danger at some point? But I did call it about Jan possibly stabbing herself after the last episode.
Lmao… classic line: “Don’t Say A Fuc:asterisk_symbol:ing Word”
Great series: the last five were definitely better than the first five.
Hope no season 2 i know they would ruin it more...
A really fun ride and an easy watch. Martin/Short were great, the secondary characters were clichés but very well played, and Selena Gomez was also in it.
Can’t wait to watch Season 2.
Not because of the Murder mystery but because I want to hang out with Marty & Steve.
This show has such a nice charm to it. Warm and fuzzy and funny and snarky.
Probably the most fun I had watching a show this year after White Lotus.
