Carmen realizes the business concerns of her husband Frans are not strictly legal when her son, Boris, finds a gun in his father's car. Frans admits he's lived in fear since a drug exchange went wrong.
Frans is in intensive care and Inspector Leeflang tells Carmen the police have been observing his hash-smuggling business. Steven, Frans' business partner, gets a visit from a rival gang looking for their missing drug haul.
Carmen's brother Irwan reveals that, along with Frans and Steven, he stole a drug haul from a ruthless dealer Christian Schiller. Believing she's now obliged to pay the debt, Carmen reluctantly agrees to run the family 'business'.
Carmen pays a visit to Christian Schiller who denies all knowledge of blackmail and instead asks for a favor: if she can re-open the transport route for a consignment of drugs, he will leave her family alone.
