I had been enjoying this series so far, but the fight scene in this episode was completely unbelievable.
I get that Reacher is this big, tough guy but there were two things that irked me about the fight scene at Hubble's house.
1) This is a man who is trained and more than capable of standing toe-to-toe with the deadliest soldiers in the world, yet he struggles to fend off someone half his size and nowhere near his supposed skill level
2) Multiple strikes to the arms, ribs, and head with a crowbar would leave even him with contusions, broken bones, and severe bruising. Yet not only does he take these on the chin (literally!), the following shower scene shows us that he apparently did so without so much as a scratch.
There have been other moments in other episodes that have been less than impressive, but with this being the penultimate episode I will finish out the season. However, I have a feeling this may go down as the first official nail in the coffin of this series for me.
Now, that's what I'm talking about, baby! This episode was, by far, the best episode in the season: and I hope the finale tops it, but it may not.
As far as the storyline is concerned, it seems like it's pretty much clear now. Everything going on seems to be revealed, for the most part. Yet I didn't care too much about the aspects concerning the underlying of the counterfeiting operation.
But I think there's still a tiny bit left to be revealed, like with Joe's death; who was the one that shot him? I think the one who did it was Kliner Jr. Seemingly, the three to four people involved were Dawson and Venezuelans, based on Morrison's murder, along with his wife, and Steveson's murder, along with his wife. Then, the subsequent reveal of their identities when they went after Reacher. But with Joe, Kliner Jr. himself may have been there and was even the one who shot him.
That music score once Reacher arrived at Hubble's house was lowkey a bop. It hammered home the unavoidable demise that was slowly looming upon those who would end up trying to take out Reacher. Adios, and good riddance.
Lol, notice how Dawson and the Venezuelans didn't have their hoods on when their target was Reacher? Talk about an on-the-nose reveal. I guess it was impossible to be consistent instead of compromising for a premature reveal. But that wasn't a big deal; it just stuck out, that's all.
Oh, yes. Let's buy a blackjack weapon and then only use it once; on the guy in the truck. That makes a whole lot of sense. I mean, there was no point in using it when taking out those three Venezuelans; Reacher had it covered with the knife. But against Dawson? But the biggest problem with that face-off was that my man Reacher barely attacked at all. Forget using the blackjack again; he hardly did anything against Dawson except tank loads of hits, which I delve more into, two paragraphs down.
The whole showdown in the Hubble family house was great; easily the highlight of the episode. It was great seeing Reacher take them out, one-by-one. They didn't stand a chance. But I swear, it's like the Venezuelans are growing on trees out here: there's always more. I wonder if their boss, presumably the client Kliner Sr. was referring to in the previous episode to Paul Hubble, will show up in the finale. That won't be left a loose end. Or maybe it will be.
Reacher should've wiped the floor with Dawson. I get it; he was the main bad guy in that situation, so there had to be a "drawn-out" fight sequence, and it couldn't have been as swift and easy as the others. Hence "drawn-out," as that would be conceived as "boring." But the writers should've gone against that preconceived notion, one most people would've been expecting and would defend, as: "Well, that would've been boring." They should've gone against it by having Dawson hardly put up a fight because he had no chance to, which wouldn't have mattered anyway, and to such an extent, people would've been like: "Wait, what? That's it? Oh, okay: that makes sense; Reacher's skilled, Dawson isn't. Etc, etc."
I'm not too sure about Reacher tanking all those hits from the crowbar. I mean, it's a good thing that there are still moments like that to convey that Reacher isn't all the way nerfed, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point in the first place. There seems to be an element of contradiction in there somewhere.
I'm baffled at how Reacher and Finlay purposely tilted the box for the money to fall out, which Reacher then starts putting back in. All you had to do was look inside the box, but that was too simplified, huh? That was a tad bit dramatic on the part of the writers; unnecessary dramatic flair.
Talking in the presence of the driver in the car she was in, super-sensitive information, was a little careless on Neagley's part: by extension, the writers. But I guess if it's not important enough in the grand scheme of things to affect the plot, it's not a big deal.
Reacher put those weapons in the trunk of the Bentley. Assuming he left them there, that's a possible path in helping with his predicament. I'm expecting that could be relevant in the finale. It would be a missed opportunity of that not being the case.
With only one episode left, I wonder how the finale will be. It seems like there are still a few question marks and loose threads. I'm a little doubtful that just one episode will be enough. Then again, there will probably be your typical trope (?) where the antagonists ramble out information that will answer the question marks and tie the loose ends: or something along those lines.
So, most importantly, I'm curious to see how this season will conclude. Disregarding everything leading up to the conclusion, I think I'm more interested in seeing/knowing where and how the season leaves off. I think this episode was the best one yet, but it'll be nice if the finale's even better.
Yep. That was very clear from the star. Because of the warning.
The fight scene with the little gnome was rediculous, after constantly portraying him as a huge total badass. Hmf.
How are you suppose to know what’s going on when the cameras cuts every 2 seconds
I get that Reacher is basically a superhero, and sure, suspension of disbelief. But come on, repeated head shots with a crow bar?
Why he got so messed up by a common thug?
So he man handles men supposed closer to his size but the little midget gives him the toughest fight? Come on
Very underwhelming fight scene with the midget.

man does he ever get to eat the pie? I guess we'll find out.
