Glorious glorious glorious glorifies gloriously glorious!
The season premier was such a huge letdown.
(Well apart from Hugh Jackman).
After listening to the new season trailer, I actually don't mind the new voices at all. Awesome!
Bit of an odd episode, some good and some bad. Always a pleasure to hear Jackman doing voice acting.
a perfectly amusing rick and morty episode. callbacks and cameos. funny bits and gags. haters will say its bad because no justin roiland but i didn't really notice the change past like the first couple minutes of Rick dialogue.
Rick's voice is missing a bit of that pressure behind it but other than that the voices of Morty and Rick sound barely any different to before. It's not like anybody would notice or care if they didn't know Roiland is out, anyway.
If people want to complain about different voices, they should complain about Birdperson sounding entirely different even though Harmon is still doing the voice. Otherwise any claims appear hypocritical.
However, the opening episode was just meh.
I don't care about Mr. Poopy Butthole and will never understand why this guy is a thing in this show.
The neighbour was an unexpected but fun addition, though.
Uncancel Justin Roiland and bring him back!
the writing is just as good, and the voices are honestly indistinguishable at times. People are 100% overreacting.
The voices really aren't as bad as people make it out to be.
Don't care about the voices nor want to bring anybody back but the episode felt really aimless and pointless
If I wasn't already aware that Justin Roiland was no longer doing any of the voice work for this show, I would not have been able to tell.
you know a show is starting to suffer when they get actual celebrity cameos
A great return to form. Loved the celebrity cameo, and I found the writing to be particularly strong. I always appreciate the return of some of the characters in this episode, and I'm glad they had a chance to shine/crack jokes.
Was ok… the voices are close but you can tell they’re different. I wasn’t really so amused or captivated by this plot but maybe the season will get better.
The new voices are off putting at first but I warmed up to them by the end. The episode improved once this week's guest star appeared.
Kinda sucks they are gonna have different voices, but Justin roiland seems like he’s a bit of a weirdo, and a fresh feeling to the show might be quite good for it as it’s falling off a little in the recent seasons
First things first, Mr. Poopy Butthole didn't sound at all right, Rick was for me really good and Morty was just a little behind that. They both sounded like really good impressions and Rick especially; maybe thats why Morty didn't say much. Oddly Birdperson sounded off as well but it's still Harmon.
Story wise I don't think would win any awards even if Justin was still doing the voices. It does feel like the changes are colouring many people's opinions on this episode. Although it does feel like the show is missing some underlying element.
As always give it a go, I'm never a fan of dropping a show because of one poor episode.
The voices sound kinda different, not the same personality behind them. This wasn't great.
Was high as usual when I watched this and this episode lacked something. It wasn’t deeply clever as it normally is. Bring back that dude
Not enough gravel in the new Rick voice. Heard much better attempts from social media.
Horrible voice acting, unbearable tbh.
According to The Myth of Sisyphus by Alber Camus, "The gods had condemned Sisyphus to ceaselessly rolling a rock to the top of a mountain, whence the stone would fall back of its own weight. They had thought with some reason that there is no more dreadful punishment than futile and hopeless labor". While Sisyphus' punishment had him rolling a rock to the top of a mountain, mine is to watch every season of Rick and Morty, whether I want to or not. Even with Justin Roiland currently flipping burgers under his new Sexual Predator Relocation (SPR) identity, his disgusting little inbred child still visits me over the course of ten weeks each and every year. After last season, I believed that this show had become irredeemable, now nothing but a vehicle for Reddit-tier humor, neverending meta commentary, and disgusting plots meant only to satisfy the twisted fetishes of its co-creator Dan Harmon. So this begs the question, how was the new episode of Rick and Morty?
It was alright. kind of a weird way to open a season, but I'll take it. Having Mr. Poopybutthole as a main character was kinda neat, and seeing Rick's semi recurring cast of weirdo friends just getting to have fun was a nice change of pace. Also thank God there wasn't some horrible, unfitting, overly long B-plot involving the less and less interesting antics of the Smith family. Hugh Jackman being here was dumb, I didn't enjoy his inclusion in the slightest. At least it was a somewhat warped and cynical portrayal, unlike modern Simpsons, which only invited guest stars in order to stroke their egos.
My main problem with this episode was the comedy. There just wasn't any. I don't know if this was an intentional choice or not, but I just felt like there was a pretty blatant lack of elaborate jokes are even clever dialogue exchanges. It just kind of felt like stuff was happening and occasionaly something sort of humorous would occur. I don't know if they changed the writing team or something but it all just feels kind of off.
To address the elephant in the room, I feel like the new voice actors for our titular duo are fine. Not as good as Roiland, but pretty close all things considered. Whoever was doing Mister Poopybutthole nailed it though. Again, it's strange to have a premiere that hardly features Morty at all, and that lack of screentime may be influencing my thoughts on the voices.
Either way, just kind of a whatever way to start the season. Doesn't fit with Rick and Morty's recent lows, but certainly doesn't hit their highs either.

Hope this doesn't suck like Solar Opposites.
