This isn't the best episode by comparison but after "Yesterday's Enterprise", "The Offspring" and "Sins of the Father" I don't think one can expect that level from every episode. Well, one can expect but it's not feasible. Plus, I think they need this kind of episodes to safe some money for the good ones, so to say.
It has some good moments, thought, the highlight being Picard singing in Ten Forward or his dinner with Bev which can not be seen as serious at this point because it was his imposter. On the other hand if they replicated the brain pattern maybe it was Picard saying what Picard couldn't say.
Never thought about it that way.

Good fun, always great to see Sir Pat Stew acting silly. The episode rolls along with great pacing and good intrigue, with the actors playing the fellow captives really getting into their alien roles.

Interesting that the cadet appears to be wearing an early version of the DS9 uniform. Nice scenes with Picard and Beverly which confirms many suspicions.

My first ST episode EVER and I was completely hooked from there on. I know right! What an odd entry point to start off from …and I came from "The Tripods".

What I think is an underrated episode. Picard is almost as bossy here as he was as cha'Dich. And I really like the humor of the odd Picard here.

Interesting aliens who wish to observe; they didn't like the favour returning.

Quite a moderated response from Picard, but, would the crew have waited so long to challenge the imposter - he was acting way off normal
