[7.5/10] You know what? It’s mildly exciting to get a crossover between Young Jedi Adventures and the Galaxy of Creatures web series. I never thought that forgettable little YouTube show would ever tie-in to other media. But god help me, the mash-up was down-right pleasant. I even found Aree the droid much less annoying as part of an ensemble than as the main character.
The bulk of the episode was good. The crew having to track down a large bird-like creature after it kidnaps Cam the droid is a classic setup. I like how this ties naturally into Lys’ preestablished animal appreciation. Her staying calm, finding the clues, acknowledging what remains unknown, and using her critical thinking skills to figure out what the bird was really after makes this a good outing for her. And between Aree’s panicky shtick and Kai and Nubs’ misadventures dressing up in berries, there’s some soft humor to keep things humming.
Overall, one of the better outings for the show, and one that pulls off an unexpected crossover quite well!
