Chicken scratch in a notebook.

"Good drawing."

"Thank you."

Both completely serious.

We have seen Carter is a lackluster officer in previous episodes, but she really shows how crappy an officer she is in this episode. Disobeying a direct order twice. WAY TO FAIL.

Then she grabs a gun without the resolve to actually use it? Not how they train officers. Never has been, never will be. You only grab a gun and point it at someone if you are willing to pull the trigger.

It really is too bad that Carter is a horrible character. This episode had lots of potential and Hanson's perspective has interesting merit, even if arguably monstrous. All that is lost with an absolutely horrible character like Carter detracting from the episode.

From my perspective, this episode is star-studded. We have "Evil Alan Matthews" (Captain Jonas Hanson / William Russ) and "Young Six" (Lieutenant Connor / Robert Cross) in major roles. I grew up with Boy Meets World, and I'm still mad that Syfy canceled Dark Matter. Always a joy to see actors whose work I've enjoyed pop up in more places!

Some questions from me about the logistics of flipping the "Circle of the Gods" up and down there, but I'm happy to hand-wave them away. Plenty of people on that planet; it'd make for light work.

Another ancient civilization

I hope we can see developed civilizations, maybe super-civilizations. But it is really good seeing such cultures. And beliefs. A planet without atmosphere.

It was clever that Jamala used that weapon of jaffa. So everyone saw anyone could use that weapon.

And we see how beliefs can be dangerous without questioning.

I like the episode.
