The first two seasons were good following the interest generated from Good Wife. The third started to become political hunting President Trump and the fourth was a big blunder, political and no legal input. Surprised they got the fifth which I do not want to watch although I dislike Trump just as they. The playwrights should stick to stories than hatred of individuls.
Fantastic!!!! The Good Wife was unmissable but I feel The Good Fight is better. It's not so focused on one person as The Good Wife was which makes it more interesting and diverse.
It's well worth watching.
Last season (3) was a real struggle to get through what with all the Trump bashing and anti Trump rhetoric.
The new season (4) kicks off and omfg they now have Killory as president. This could be a very short watched season.
Outstanding. Best thing on tv right now.
Amazing. Best tv show on right now.
Fantastic series. Best episode yet.
I never watched The Good Wife but these first two episodes have captured my interest. Can't wait to enjoy this show.
I enjoy legal/political drama, so I watched The Good Wife and later continued watching The Good Fight, while being a male in his 20s living in Western Europe.
By season 6, there is basically no lawyering at all, just liberal political agenda. I now consider the show purely a barometer of bleeding edge US liberal thought, since the law is made in courtroom in the US and lawyers in this show argue corresponding points in make-believe court (interestingly, we get a "need to go deeper" moment, with having a "private" court in S5 ). Lawyers also supposedly argue their best, so if the show did not convince you, other liberal propaganda probably won't move you either.
Since I cringe from watching the news, but consider it important to know US liberal agenda, I find watching the show worth my while.
It is still done very professionally from technical point of view with nice graphics and acting, and there is always engaging law firm internal politics plot, so I would find it greatly enjoyable if it wasn't so politically skewed.
This show is EXQUISITE. A bit slow, but boy, do I enjoy each one of the scenes!! Kind of political, provocative, exquisite. For you to enjoy most and understand characters, I recommend you to see The good wife before.
This series is not what it was at the beginning. When it began, the writing was sharp, the cast top notch, performances witty and profound and the story captivating. By the second season this Legal Drama was firmly on my Top TV List. In the third season, it began to move towards the surreal, much to my disappointment. Sharp writing was replaced with cutesy information bits and crisp legal drama became political drama that slid into the stuff of conspiracy theories. The shift continued into the forth season, hampered now by a public weariness with the horror show of public politics. And, frankly, I missed Leslie Rose’s character and the whole demographic it represented. So, it’s been a roller coaster and my ratings have followed suit, it began strong with an 8 (great) out of 10, which, by the end of the second season, had elevated to 10s (sharp, clever drama). It ebbed (6) and flowed (9) during season season three, and, now, at the end of season four, the best I can muster for it is a 7 (ok), for in my opinion it has dipped far from it’s potential. [Legal/Political Drama/Parody]
3 seasons already and I’ve just discovered this show!!! I’m feeling it and about to binge everything!
I watched one episode and had to binge watch all three seasons until I was done!!! I LOVE this show!!!
This is not a TV show, this is a lefty antifa woke propaganda documentary! This is despicable to be so political in a show. The more seasons, the more ridiculous it gets. Unwatchable.
Since the initial episodes, this series became highly favoured TV for me and I have now placed it in my top 40 list. THE GOOD FIGHT began by co-opting the creme du la creme talent of THE GOOD WIFE: Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, and then added another talented Brit, Rose Leslie, to the core cast. With great writing and the first season casting of some tried and true talent: Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters, it was off to a great start. Although I thought THE GOOD WIFE faded away and needed to end, this series was a Phoenix rising from the ashes. I initially gave it an 8 (superb) out of 10, expecting it to rise. The second season was 9s (superb) all the way, so, now, at the end of season 2, I'm giving the whole series a 10 (best television) rating out of 10 [Legal Drama] If you haven't seen any of it, I highly recommend this as one of your summer binges!
Used to love the show but season 3 is totally disappointing. A TV Show should NOT be used to push a political agenda, whatever the agenda, especially so explicitly. Season 3 had no interest except to convince the viewer that Trump is bad and Hilary is good.
My political opinion aside, this is totally unacceptable. Why don't the writers become politicians then? I'm not watching TV to get fed with an agenda. This should remain entertainment and entertainment only.
maaan... I so can't wait for this spin off to start!
I loved the Good Wife so naturally was excited to hear this show was following on from that. Particularly considering some of the characters would be ported over. (I absolutely love David Lee  Kudos to Zach Grenier who plays the part perfectly.)
Seasons 1 and 2 were excellent, 3 and 4 were far too quirky for my liking and the overly political storylines and anti Trump messages were sickening. I'm in the UK so wasn't particularly affected by them tbf. Season 5 however just grates on me constantly. Wackner's daft court started out OKish but by episode 5 was just too ridiculous.
My main problem though is the return to the talk of a "black only firm". I'm not a racist or a bigot so there is no agenda here. How on earth is it OK to keep referring to this "black only firm" and sell the story of an issue because Diane is white and is therefore wrong to be a Named Partner of said "black only firm"? I can only imaging the outcry if the storyline was flipped and it was about a white only firm. To me that whole storyline is racist itself and I'm astounded that it's even allowed. To compound this we also had the case in Wackner's court about the use of the word "niggardly". Obviously this was used in a racist context in the show.
It's all leaving me with a nasty taste in my mouth. I'll finish season 5 as there are only a few episodes left but will probably stop there and not bother with a season 6 and beyond if they are made.
Sad to see a sequel show that I originally loved (and considered as good as the original show) lose it's way so badly and incredulous that it is allowed to push such political and racial agendas to it's audience.
Edit*
I just finished the season 5 finale. What the hell did I just watch? A total piece of crap with all the spin off community courts and people getting locked up in cellar prison cells! Just absolute rubbish. That's me done with this show.
The show is done. Like the last sip of a great wine.
Very good Spin off of The Good Wife series, repeat our Diane and the series works well on its own.
Follows all current issues very well, such as Trumpism, the coronavirus and other current events.
Its pace is more stimulating than its mother series, it touches on many current issues such as racism, brutality and corruption, in addition to the cases of the law firm.
A varied roster with good actors, good scenes and complex phrases, is a series that must be seen.
The Good Wife left me wanting more, and to my surprise they delivered.
After 10 superb episodes I keep wanting more from them, they took the best from The Good Wife and made The Good Fight with a lot more at stake and keeping you at the edge of your seat. A familiar feel but a more exhilarating pace, one that The Good Wife did not have which makes it different and honestly keeps you hooked. I loved The Good Wife and they ended it on a high note in my opinion, with this they deliver a new story with more punch. The introduction of the new characters with multiple story lines just keeps you wanting more.
This must not be missed - The Good Fight - stop reading a go watch it, can't wait for Season 2!
If this is anything like The Good Wife then we are in for a hell of a series, can't wait!
Loved the first episode. I think I am going to like this more than TGW. No Peter! No Kids. Cush Jumbo is amazing.
"The Good Wife" is, in my opinion, one of the best TV series of that genre. I was very sad when it ended but also very excited when I heard about "The Good Fight", mainly because of the cast, with the "goddess" Christine Baranski as a lead.
The first 2 seasons were in a line with "The Good Wife" plots, twists, characters, whole atmosphere...
However, this 3rd season went too political in a direct way.
I am not an U.S. resident but of course your/ their politics concern me, as the rest of the world, and of course I am not an ignorant when it comes to world's politics and events but can we all have a break of it?
Yes, use the real people, stories and movements as an inspiration for the show but not like this.
Show more of the characters we love, their imaginary lifes, that is why we are watching the show.
I was a fan of The Good Fight, but what happend to season 3!!!! It's realy bad and it is beginning to like it's a mix between Ally McBeal and House of Cards but then very bad! A new crazy fake advocate, info animations movies and talking to the viewers.....
This show has gone so far left that there isn't anything left to do beside I guess ending it at this point. Sometimes I think watching this show is like watching CNN. I think what Hollywood keeps getting confused is that they think we care about their political views. We do not. We just want you to do your job and that is producing something entertaining so that when we watch it we can escape our reality rather than indulging into more of it. If I wish to catch the latest news I can just tune in to a news channels.
This is AT LEAST as good as The Good Wife. I'm ECSTATIC.
I was a big fan of The Good Wife and I loved the first two seasons of The Good Fight, but holy hell did it go to shit in the third season.
Let me preface by saying I'm a progressive and a staunch feminist. That being said, I still found season 3 unbearable. It's pandering, plain and simple: while The Good Wife regularly plundered the headlines and wore its politics on its sleeve, it still tried to tell a compelling story and presented its ideas in a nuanced manner. The character of Kurt, for instance, was created specifically to represent a more conservative point of view and present a foil for Diane's progressive views. In so doing, it gave us fantastic character drama.
Well, all that is gone in season 3. Now we get flashes of Eric and Don Junior as Diane throws axes to relieve her utter hatred of the Trump Administration. We get Diane arguing with a Trump-shaped bruise on her husband's shoulder, lamenting "Where did the men go wrong." We get Schoolhouse Rock-like interjections featuring shitty music that wink so hard at the audience that the writers must have sprained their eyelids writing them.
Again, my problem isn't with the show's political views. It's with the inane manner in which they've abandoned all objectivity and nuance to give us a bizarre, one-sided revenge fantasy where Diane rages on and on about Trump's existence. It's entertainment for the liberal echo chamber, not a clever discourse on modern politics.
And meanwhile, the characters have devolved into caricatures. If you liked how The Good Wife featured quasi-realistic courtroom drama, tough luck, the courtroom action no longer makes any damn sense.
And so I'm out. Although the first two seasons made it feel like The Good Wife could go on forever, I guess this is the moment I have to say goodbye. You folks had a good run, but somewhere along the way you bought your own cleverness and forgot to tell a gripping drama.
The character Maia seems to be surprised (even hearing her own name) all the time on the verge of crying all the time the first few episodes, it's so annoying. And she such a naive character like she was born yesterday. Is it like this the whole series ? The clichés are ridiculous, the characters not believable like they're from a comic.
Was sort of looking forward to Season3, but it is now so political that it's mostly unwatchable. I don't care for either political party. But this show is so far left now it's like looking at the daily news/nightly talk shows headlines. This is not entertainment. It's a propaganda show.
Stop watching because of hatred towards President Trump. The writers need to grow up. Hilary LOST!!!
first two seasons were ok after that the writers completely lost their shit and became very polarised. the whole thing became ridiculous very quickly with cartoon parts to shoehorn ideology across. the latter seasons were just garbage and I finally gave up. would not recommend.
What a piece of shit the show has become, my God! The first two seasons of OK. I don't look at this anymore. You're no longer normal with an obsession with Trump.
If you loved The Good Wife and you hate Trump then you'll like The Good Fight!

I have been watching The Good Fight since it's spin-off from The Good Wife. I watched it also and loved it. Followed Christine Baranski right to The Good Fight. She certainly could carry this show with no problem but it was good to see Sarah Steele and Nyambi Nyambi. These folks seem to blend well together on the small screen. I would love to see Cush Jumbo as a regular, but Audra McDonald is a great addition to the cast. (I actually saw Audra McDonald perform a one-woman show on Broadway as Billie Holiday - fantastic performance). I agree the writers can get w-a-y left-leaning, but they did throw in a staunch right-winger played by Gary Cole. The dialogue is well written & delivered. Some outright humorous & some meant to be humorous, depending on what side of the ballot you push. If you can handle the overtly elephant-party bashing & comments and just watch it for the value of good actors doing their jobs and delivering good performances - then this show is a good one. If not, skip it - your head will explode.
Full Disclosure - - This series' storylines are mostly contradictions to my thoughts on many real world topics. Not all, but most. So why do I, every week, use an hour of my time to watch it, you might ask! Well, I am level-headed and secure in my thoughts and convictions. There is nothing a group of people who are getting paid to pretend to be something they are not, purely for entertainment purposes, can change my mind about. I enjoy their work as actors, therefore, I tune in and get entertained. Unlike many folks of a different mindset, I do not feel that if I don't agree with a message being broadcast by a TV series, then no one should be able to hear/see it. I simply turn the channel. I have learned in my old age there are people who can't seem to do this.
