[7.7/10] Such a fun episode. There’s a lot of great commentary about beer culture, one of the quintessential riffs on St. Patrick’s day, and delightful 1920s homage throughout. The episode has one of Springfield’s trademark public furors, and the green-themed intro is fun even apart from the broader plot.
But the plot is fun. For one thing, Dave Thomas’s uptight, old timey talkin’ Rex Banner is an all-timer of a character. His inability to laugh and no-nonsense demeanor pay big comic dividends. At the same time, Chief Wiggum’s fall and rise add at least some stakes to the sud-soaked mayhem that takes place through most of the episode.
And what mayhem! Homer as the Beer Baron is tons of fun. Everything from him and Bart digging up the barrels, to the whole bowling situation, to them making the liquor themselves is one of those crazy schemes that the show makes hilarious. Marge’s reaction to it is hilarious, and him using his position to help Wiggum is unsuspectingly nice.
Plus, the ending with the catapult, while a little out there, is memorable. And the final line will live in infamy. There’s not much too this one -- just tons of great beer-related gags and a memorable setup, but damn if The Simpsons doesn't make the absolute most out of it.

Love how Rex can't ever catch Homer, even as he walks past him at one point. Makes for some great jokes.
The entire episode is quite humourous, but I really wanna know how they built those pipes.
