The Stand: Season 1

1x01 The End

The eternal struggle between good and evil from Stephen King's perspective, a very "homegrown" view of a final apotheosis that almost always leaves you with a bitter aftertaste.

Only disappointing that this version is 9 episodes. 42 minutes each. I think the original was 4 episodes, 2 hrs each.
Anyway, I like that they changed the pacing. So it doesn’t feel like you’re watching the 1994 one all over again.
Owen Teague (IT) is the best casting so far. Since he makes a creepier Harold. Which fits in a Stephen King atmosphere.
Odessa Young makes for a more vulnerable and flawed Frannie so far as well. Whoopi Goldberg is as Whoopi as you’d expect as Abagail though. Meaning she stands out more than anyone else due to her popularity.
Too much time is skipped in the end as well. Confusing to why they would do that. They put scenes that should be in the beginning on the end. While also skipping to scenes that should be in later episodes.

Started off a bit rough. Not sure how I feel about the story not being in chronological order. Just felt like the time jumps were poorly structured so maybe I wouldn’t be negative about it if it wasn’t for that. Wondering if it makes it confusing for anyone not already familiar with the story. Hoping the next episode sorts that out. On the positive side so far I like the casting of James Marsden, Odessa Young and Alexander Skarsgård as Stu, Frannie and Flagg respectively. Also, the actor playing the small role of General Starkey was a nice surprise and he’s great with his limited time.

Imagine everyone around you dying except the creepy incel that stalks you. Nightmare fuel.

I've never read the book so can't compare.

The pilot is like walking dead.

I'll watch where this is going.

Looks like a jigsaw puzzle at the moment.

That smiley at the end was a bit watchmen like.

Hold on how did granny end up pregnant? Like y’all just drop random info on us and the end? Ugh I hate this back and forth stuff let’s see if it gets any better.

This first episode was crap. The original is much better. I cannot stand Harold and he was less of a dick in the original. The order of events/flash forwards is a right mess. If Part 2 is just a bad it's a turn off from me.

I only just watched the original a few months ago. I wonder how this will compare?

Why did the general shoot himself?

Good start. Let’s see if it stays that way. I think I might be infected with China virus. I hope I see the old woman in my dreams & not the scary man.

Curiosity level 8 out of 10. Well put together pilot. Few questions raised. I'm in.

Great start so far. Although, the timeline has been edited heavily. Not a problem if you have read the book or seen the first series.

A good start to the series. I've never read the book so I cant say how far they will break from that lineage. What I will say is, if you're supposed to hate or cringe at Harold - they are doing that in spades. He just makes my skin crawl for no good reason aside from how creepy he acts. I do like James Marsden though. He seems to play his parts well as the good guy.
