The show has been pretty much perfect thus far, but I feel like the episode could have handled the aftermath of Danny punching Michael's brother at the dinner table better. Maybe we'll see more fallout in later episodes, but I feel like for once, the show would have been better served by a heavier hand when it came to handling its drama. This was actual violence, and none of it was addressed or resolved. I get that some families and tend to put a lid on trauma when it happens, but given that the situation was provoked by these people not being able to keep their mouth shut about each other's secrets, none of them telling Kate what had happened – and her not demanding they tell – just feels like a big misstep. It's still an amazing show, but I feel like this choice drained a lot of the impact from what was otherwise a gloriously constructed spread of holiday discomfort.
