this pilot is more compelling and engaging than the entire season 1.
Really disjointed and actually quite clichéd and boring. It had better improve, so far a great disappointment after the excellent series 1.
a real let down considering i've just finished season 1
True Detective Season 1 Episode 1 set the bar, and McCaughey & Harrelson are simply just top notch actors and have awesome chemistry working together. So I came into Season 2 expecting that this Season wouldn't be as good as the First Seasons opener, and it wasn't. I do believe that it will get better, and the actors in this season have the potential to make this great. I do like Vince Vaughn, but seeing him in a serious role throws me off a bit. We will see.. Lots of Episodes left in this Season and anything can happen.
Very disappointing. Trite and tired. Many characters who all put together don't carry as much interest as either Matthew or Woody by themselves in the first season. Really, who cares what any of these dog eared characters has to say or do/
If it weren't for the sheer pedigree of the first season this opener wouldn't have me champing at the bit for it
•First episode leaves a lot to be desired. Felt a little messy.
•They truly went from best intro ever in S1 to an absolute stinker.
•Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch might be a really good group, they have potential
•That “shh” was fucking terrible and corny as fuck lmao
•Ayo that’s Tim Riggins!
•Incredibly harsh and illegal way to get your point across wow
•I liked it… I’m actually looking forward to the season. Looking forward to seeing these characters interact.
Different protagonists, it has started well, no it does not have the suffocating environment of S1
At first this was harder to follow that the complete season 1! Which is saying a lot cause this season’s plot gave me the impression of being more grounded and season 1 was... you know season 1, it took us to the greater beyond of human mind and consciousness.
But after minute 12 and thanks to Rachel you start to understand it and most importantly get invested on it.
I think my issue is Vince’s scenes, I feel like they aren’t that well integrated to the episode and dynamic even tho I suppose they are very important.
And yeah I know he is a kid and whatever but imagine if every kid-teen bully got a warning like that! Bullying would be eradicated! Much to think about.
I don't understand any of what's going on, nor do I have the interest to find out.
But hey, at least the music is nice.
What the hell was that?! I hope it will be better and better with every new episode... but this first one was totally boring and only scenes with alcoholic asshole detective were good.
The lack of Rust fills a small place , though fortunately Colin bad .
Another pearl from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis! Damn, that riff is amazing!
Miss Matthew Mcconaughey =/ .... And of course miss Alexandra Daddario ;)
Rachel McAdams is so beautiful! Those lips and that hair!
But yeah every scene has music that doesn't even fit the scene and I actually liked Vince Vaughn. Nothing really happened but the story starts here cause Casper guy from Vince's company is dead and McAdams and Colin will work together to find out who killed Casper
I don't like Vince Vaughn, but I hope this season will be good.

Disappointing. The season starts with 4 characters that all take themselves too seriously in uninteresting situations. Even the music is oddly suspenseful in scenes where not much happens.
I hope we'll get that suspense and mystery from season 1 back in the coming episodes
