This must be one of the worst series I have ever seen. Bad script, bad acting and just plain boring cinematography. I could have expected the later since the highly overrated Casa de Papel didn't Bring anything New and spicy to the table at all, but at least it had a decent story. This looks like it have been witten and directed by a 17 year old.
I don't wrote a lot of reviews here but consider this a warning.
Wow, I’d never thought Alex Pina could make something this shitty after La Casa de Papel.
Like, I can’t even begin to describe this show, or the plot for that matter.
The actual story is pushed aside for most of the season, which means that the average episode consists of people drinking, partying, fucking, snorting cocaine, boring conversations about fucking, more fucking, annoying melodrama about relationships and people being shitheads for 50 minutes.
Honestly, I dare you to find I character that you don’t despise by the time that the finale comes around.
Now, I could pass most of that off if the show was at least fun, or if it didn’t take itself so seriously, like Entourage for example.
But given the dark things that happen in the show, and also the fact that it has no sense of humour, I’m inclined to believe that they want us to take it seriously.
Normally, I’d give it a 1, but it doesn’t even deserve that honor, as it’s fairly well produced.
2.5/10
Story is interesting enough, such a shame it only got 1 season! Zoe's actor isn't really the best choice but would've loved more Ibiza and Boxer action!
White lines? More like “white lies” cause the trailer misled me to think this show was actually gonna make any sense.
The introduction of the show may lead you to believe that this is a stylised murder mystery with a greasy Ibiza aesthetic and some Fargo-esque dark comedy. Stick it out until the later eps and you'll find yourself in an absurd 18+ Hollyoaks with some Spanish dialogue and even weaker character motivations. Nobody is likable, the main character changes her mind between scenes so often I had whiplash trying to follow her arc, and everyone is fucking everyone because...reasons?
Do not waste your time with this. It's softcore porn with a threadbare murder mystery plot desperately attempting to hold it all together.
Spoilers: Anna did it because, after sleeping with Axel, he burnt all the money they'd made after becoming famous in Ibiza and threatened her relationship with Marcus. There, I just saved you 9 hours. You're welcome.
Production values are high, but the characters are so sloppily depraved, there is no protagonist. Most troubling, Zoë—whose investigation is supposed to drive the central plot line—gives the viewer whiplash with her changing allegiances. Worth watching only if you enjoy the relief that comes from seeing the essential unhappiness of the wealthy.
Thought this might be my cup of tea. It's alright but not exactly anything special. I read it is supposed to be THE tv show of the summer. I don't think so. Way better shows out there. It is light entertainment but with an emphasis on light. I'd call this okay at best but won't be telling everyone I know they should watch it. Just to watch it if they can't find anything else better. I thought I might enjoy it as I went to Ibiza in the 90s. Oh well.
I've made my choices and now I must live with them. I just wish I could get my hour back.
The acting and casting is awful, Daniel Mays and Laura Haddock are absolutely terrible in this.
I expected so much more. The strongest thing about this show is all the cliches.

I enjoyed this show for what it is. It is not a masterpiece by any means, but if you’re looking for a light and entertaining summer (quarantine) watch give this a shot.
I liked the cast, however there were definitely moments where the acting falls flat. Lots of emotion in this series, and I felt like some actors (the kids from the flashbacks especially) were consistently great, while others were much more hit and miss.
The story was gripping, I particularly loved the use of Ibiza as a location and a part of the story. The drugs, clubs, music, mystic, it was all a part of the story. At times the storytelling could be a little disjointed for the sake of a “big reveal”, there’s lots of cuts and flashbacks to moments that happened like 1 hour before, and eventually you get used to it and realize you’re not getting the full story and start expecting it. that being said though, there were a few times I went “oh fuck” when there was a reveal, so it did work at times. Other points were super predictable.
Zoe (the main character) is very much a “broken lead woman” trope, so if you aren’t a fan of that tread carefully with this show. She’s frustrating at times, but I did find myself enjoying her in this story for the most part.
White Lines felt very Breaking Bad at times, it had moments where it felt like that was the vibe it was going for. I don’t think it fully committed which is why it was just good instead of great. If it had been a little longer, a slower burn with better build up and tension, and more consistent plotting and characters it could have been great. Haha so I guess if you changed a :asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:lot:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol: about it..
Overall, like I said, this is entertaining but nothing iconic or memorable. I loved the journey and would recommend it if you have time to kill.
