Brilliant, and very true to the book.
All remakes after this one do not reach the same level.
Did NOT need a remake!
Clooney plays great.
But having a native German speaker ("The Good German") play opposite someone who cannot speak German, and let them have a talk in German totally ripped me out of the movie and destroyed the entire experience.
Funny here and there, but does not come close to the original movies. I don't understand why he had to pull off that accent.
Kevin Kline and Jean Reno are brilliant.
A very good reimagination of Sherlock Holmes. A movie I love to watch again and again.
(I wonder if they could pull off "Hound of the Baskervilles" in that style. I'd watch that!)
Clumsy story, weak acting, weak direction, plus several badly stolen elements from "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain", trying to get the same mood across. And failing.
Highly overrated movie.
