I enjoyed it. Fun and entertaining.
Oh hell no is right! Not as good or funny as the first two.
Different movie, and I appreciate what they were trying to do and say; if you could find the one you love but in a perfect version would you ignore your gut to run for the hills or stay there…But didn’t love it.
Should have never been remade. Can't beat the original. Too much CGI in this, too childish.
What a movie! Amazing performances, cinematography and score. Genius symbolism use. Way ahead of its time.
Great movie, sad reality. Tear jerker all around.
Just wow! Goes into the mind of a killer, and surprisingly - you don't want to leave! Full review on http://breakawaydaily.com
Was it stupid? Yes. Was it absolutely hilarious? Yes! Film review at http://breakawaydaily.com
I preferred the Lifetime TV version (that is not a good sign). It just made me feel sad for the characters, that they are that lost in life...
Film Analysis - “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” is a supernatural adventure that is never “mundane.”
When Clary Fray’s house is turned upside down and her mum is nowhere to be seen she learns that she descends from Shadowhunters who protect the world from demons. She joins forces with them to discover who she really is and find her mother.
Starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Jemima West, Kevin Zegers, Jared Harris, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Lena Headey, Aidan Turner, and Godfrey Goa.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is a book to movie adaptation based on the worldwide best-selling fantasy book series by author Cassandra Clare. It is a film many fans have anticipated, and it’s finally here! I feel like I have had a baby because I have been waiting nine months to see the film! I went to the premiere and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this!
The film version of The Mortal Instruments is a well made supernatural fantasy thriller that captures the beauty of Clare’s extraordinary and unique Shadowhunter world. It boasts a brilliant cast, great action sequences, dark cinematography, and a strong witty script. It is actually not a simple film, as you can tell from this rather extensive and complex review where I have attempted to shed light at some of the films intricacies. So, as one of the film’s stars Jamie Campbell Bower would say in his English accent, grab yourself a cup of tea (or a cappuccino with an angelic rune design in it), relax, and have a read!
Clarissa “Clary” Fray (Lily Collins) is the empowered female protagonist at the center of the story. She is an artistically gifted teen living with her single mother Jocelyn (Lena Headey) in New York City. On her birthday, she finds herself a part of a dark and mysterious world unknown to her, or rather, hidden from her. If you thought New York was bustling metropolis before, just wait till you see this movie!

SILENT HOUSE KEEPS THINGS A LITTLE TOO QUIET…
I have been wanting to watch this film for a long time and finally got to it the other day. I thought it was just going to be ghost story type film or something like Paranormal Activity but it turned out to be something very unexpected!
It had a lot of suspense despite its shortcomings. It gets a bit old as the majority of the film is just Elizabeth Olsen’s character Sara wandering through a scary house. Elizabeth does a good job at being scared and crying her eyes out over these scary sounds though! There are times it feels very Blairwitch Project. The film is shot entirely with a subjective camera, always at arm’s length of the character. There is even a scene near the end common in this type of film, where the girl using a camera, snaps a series of pictures that momentarily light up the dark attic. It just feels so low budget that you feel like someone made it for a school film project or something, because of this you can’t really get lost in the movie.
Although the ending was out of left field, I liked this twist and thought it added to the film. The problem with it though was that it wasn’t executing properly and the overall storyline had too many holes in it. It needed more too it, more flashbacks - something. After doing a bit of research on the film I found that is was actually a remake of a Spanish film of the same name and that it was based on a true story. Not sure if that movie delved into the back story more or not…
All in all it was a film that could have been really great, but too many things made it feel like someone just took a camera and tried to create a movie over the weekend at their cabin.

Snow Covered Film Review
With winter winding down I have been celebrating the last of a very long winter with some snow movies - Winter in Wartime, Alaska, and Vertical Limit.
This film, like Alaska, I had watched when it first came out but didn’t really remember much of it, so I watched it again in a high def on my big screen and that of course makes a big difference when you are watching all the breathtaking scenery of mountain climbers battling the elements!
This is a really exciting action film, and so far t I think has stood the test of time (it is now 13 years old!) Sure it is not perfect, I am sure it is full of inaccuracies and some of the effects at the begging were giveaway. But I like that at the heart of it is a brother stopping at nothing and putting himself in harms way to constantly save his sister.

I don’t really know what to say about this film. This film had a lot of good actors in it but it just didn’t have that much emotion. It wasn’t really funny, sexy, or dark. It was just sort of all on the surface. I liked Britt Robertson and Max Thieriot’s performances however, and they were the main reason for watching and staying with the film. It is about a very dysfunctional family that will make yours seem normal!

This is an oldie but a goldie and features the newly engaged Vincent Kartheiser (who is going to marry Alexis Bledel). I remembered watching this when it first came out (I must have been 10 years old) and I always liked it. It is always interesting when you re-watch a movie because it is almost like you have never watched it before! It is that new of an experience, I didn't really remember much of it. The brother and sister duo were so fearless, and the visuals were really beautiful, plus the polar bear was so cute! A nice relaxing film I watched the other evening before bed - however I tossed and turned all night for some reason...

Great romantic film with Theo James and Billie Piper. Did I mention Theo James? Too bad he wasn't in the second half, but the second half was interesting too as it showed that even though you might be in a passionate relationship with someone, it may not stand the test of time.
“We should never have let the world in.”
The Ballad of Jack and Rose is drama film written and directed by Rebecca Miller, and starring her husband Daniel Day-Lewis.
It also stars Camilla Belle (When A Stranger Calls, The Quiet) who can her own against the superb Daniel Day-Lewis. Shockingly (for a film buff) this is only my second encounter with DDL. The only other film I saw him in was Gangs of New York, and that was so long ago I barely remember it. But seeing him in this has made me want to watch all his films, he has won me over!
I can’t believe I never knew until now that this special project was filmed close to my neck of the woods – Rock Barra Prince Edward Island, Canada! You can even see a Canadian Tire store in one scene! Another neat little thing I picked up on was that it featured a “copperhead” snake. Copperhead is another film that has been shot in The Maritimes. It also takes place in 1986 – the same year both Camille and I were born (coincidence, I think not!)
The Ballad of Jack and Rose (Titantic anyone?) is an unusual, offbeat, thoroughly “indie” movie, and it’s definitely worth seeing for the contrast of typical Hollywood nothingness. The film tells the story of an environmentalist and his teenage daughter who live alone on a secluded island commune. Nothing lasts for ever, and here it’s Jack’s failing health and Rose’s growing up that threaten the status quo. It takes an in depth look at Jack’s attempt to patch up his way of life that is falling apart, much like the commune house itself.
This is the type of film that you will either love or hate. I thought it was a beautiful film. I heap praise for this quirky bit of avant-garde film-making. Rebecca Miller takes a thought provoking look at the situation and doesn’t flinch at tackling uncomfortable themes. Although I didn’t think it was that provocative. Overall, it’s a touching and intense look at the bond between a father and daughter, without all of that stuff people may make it out to be. They just have a very deep and complicated relationship. Rose’s and Jack’s many emotions are shown on their faces, a testament to the actors. Miller should be congratulated for making us care for what will happen to Jack and Rose and for the magnificent performances she got from her cast. The music by Michael Rohatyn also adds another layer to the film, with each choice of music being perfect to fit each scene.

A writer at the peak of his literary success discovers the price he must pay for stealing another man’s work. Find out what happens, or not since the film is a total mind ****! It was an interesting movie, but it could have been done better. I found it kinda boring. I don’t think Bradley Cooper was the best choice for the lead for this. I wanted to watch it for Jeremy Irons, since I already am missing The Borgias!
