Regular Show: The Movie

Going into this, I'm not sure what I expected - but it was pretty good and kinda fun.

Feels like what a Regular Show movie should be: Some absurd-ass situation with a sincere yet half-joke ending.

I also like how they brought back stuff from previous episodes. Always nice when shows/movies do that.

I wonder if the show will reference this too (started season 7 and have been going in release order, and this came out before episode 6 did).

So yeah, if you like the show or are new to it (like me) this is worth watching. Has basically perfect balance between taking itself seriously and going "dude, it's the regular Show movie".

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

A damn near perfect conclusion to a excellent trilogy.

The eponymous Hidden World is only in the movie for ~3 minutes, but the character dynamics and overall theme of letting go are so good, you won't even realize it.

There's a couple flaws of course, but the film as a whole is damn good.

The ending itself is also a great send-off to these characters we've known for a decade.

Go watch the entire trilogy if you haven't already.

This movie is kind of funny at times, but it's pretty basic otherwise - though I'm not sure what I expected from a film with this premise.

The green screen effects didn't age very well, but the acting isn't bad, and there's a couple decent jokes.

However, it takes joe way too long to realize the time machine isn't real (and he either never realizes or doesn't care that Frito is literally dumber than a rock). He never even realizes Rita isn't a painter either!

But, this isn't bad for the few dumb gags it has. I doubt I'll ever re-watch it though.

It really does feel like a bad SNL skit that somehow became a full movie, but I think I'd prefer it as a short skit.

The Thing

Other than 2 minutes of opening credits, this is damn good.

The characters aren't super fleshed out (probably due to time constraints), but it kind of works with the film.

They don't know who to trust, and in the same way the audience doesn't either - partially because we don't know them.

The designs are still great after 40 years (honestly, the only thing dating this movie is the ancient tech they use)

The story is a slow one, but it's quite compelling the entire time.

The open-ended conclusion is also the perfect ending for the film imo. There's a series of comics that takes it further, but having the audience piece everything together and try to figure out whether or not one of them is infected was a great choice.

It's a definitely a must-watch if you're into horror and/or just want to know why this movie has a cult following.

The Great Wall

Pretty standard action film with a few logical holes (ropes as bungee cords and the entirety of the blue spear girl division), but if you want some quick mindless action this is a good choice.

Decent light-hearted comedy, but definitely aimed towards children.

Not a masterpiece by far or anything, but not a failure of cinema.

Has multiple flaws, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Even still, it's another average movie made to capitalize on kids.

Ruin

Very interesting concept, I'm sad it hasn't become a full movie.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

The movie was amazing, when spider-ham was first introduced I immediately thought he'd be the stupid comic relief character who would ruined the movie; but that wasn't the case.

The art style and animation are both amazing, and I like how multiple spider-people all teamed up to take down a truley mega thicc Kingpin

Ice Age

It's definitely for kids. I had to watch this with my siblings awhile back, and it's painfully obvious they're just cashing in
