There’s the obvious civil war that is the backdrop of this movie. Then there is the civil war within the artist to tell a story versus being consumed by it.
It's a Godzilla movie, with some serious depth! Set in the last days of world war II, it's themes of grief, shame and redemption hit deep. The special effects are unreal given the budget they had. Easily the best Godzilla movie since the original! This movie will be analyzed in film schools and psych classes for years to come!
Get rid of the humans!!!! They add nothing to these movies. The best part of these movies did not involve dialogue.
The title is the only thing shared with the original. This was a hodgepodge of elements fused together to make a bad movie. You know...a Joel Silver movie!
Soulless, dispassionate. A study in disillusionment both literal and metaphorically.
This is John Wick directed by Law and Order's Dick Wolf with a techie bad guy worse than the one in Die Hard 4. Action is good, story is shit. Wait for Netflix.
I’m bored in the movie house, movie house bored.
Every aspect of this movie was as annoying as people who say “like” 20 times in a sentence. The only true takeaway was that I gave it a thumbs down on my app and it won’t recommend shit like this again.
Just because you’re Black doesn’t mean you can pull an effective Caribbean accent. And just because you’re an actor doesn’t mean you can act. This movie has the dumbest doctor character ever presented! there would be no movie if he would not have worked so hard to please his annoying son!
Meandering social commentary disguised as a horror movie. This is not “Night of the Living Dead”, a thought provoking and satisfying horror movie. No! The bad guys are J Crew models (sorry for the obscure reference…I’m old), the good guys are “betas”, and You’ll figure it all out in 15 minutes tops!
Should be called Saw 1.5. It brought the movie back to the vibe of the original Saw. Now, if I could erase everything after Saw II….
Not the best movie on the subject matter, but it was effective in telling the story. This should be seen as a bookend with Spotlight to understand the aftereffects of trauma.
I didn’t know there were so many Non Spanish speakers in the Puerto Rican National Police? And an empty hospital after a weather disaster? And all these famous paintings in a building and no one asked what the fuck? Sorry I was so focused on mundane stuff that I forgot to watch the movie. My wife said it sucked. I believe her. :type_4:♂
The only reason to watch this movie is Glenn Close. She is a slow burning cauldron and a marvel to watch. Put it on mute and watch her facial expressions - fucking brilliant! Everything else was pedestrian.
Once I figured out who the killer was, which was 10 minutes in, I spent the rest of the running time playing “who’s still alive from this movie.”
For a movie that made an effort to not be gratuitous, it sure was engrossing! Hallmark Christmas Horror movie!!! I have to admit I was not expecting where it went. Nice ride though.
This movie is a clear example of why Jordan Peele is so next level. It is also an example of how much better this genre has become. Not a great movie. But better than Scary Movie.
It’s not “The Godfather”. However, considering all the recent duds he’s made, it feels like it is. Some funny moments throughout.
Derek is the best character on this show! As a therapist, I related to the train wrecks who were the main characters. Clinicians are clients too.
Reality versus expectation. Expectations are future resentments. The protagonist carries a lot of resentment. It’s the exploration of this, and his internal fears, that make this movie grand. Summer was not a bitch. He just wasn’t listening.
Let’s get some college friends together and make a movie! It will be a horror movie that is as scary as an after school special and just as melodramatic. Avoid!
This one made the original look like an Oscar winner! Major issues with storytelling where you’re left wondering why did this happen. Eventually, you won’t care.
The acting is great! It’s the story that sucks.
Convoluted. Convoluted. Convoluted. Convoluted. Convoluted.
I will have to see the subbed version. The vocal talent on the dubbing are shit.
I was getting into the movie, then they introduced a new character. It built up again, then they introduce a new character. By then I was annoyed. It wasn’t a bad movie, but it could have worked better without the backtracking. I’ll never see a lactating Bob the same again.
Kino’s last words… and the speech on sacrifice…:fire:
The cinematography was was tight! The shot of Bix in the interrogation room was intense!
Overacting. Underacting. Not sure what to call it, but the acting sucked and I wanted everyone to die.
For some reason this reminded me of the last Indiana Jones movie…the part where the aliens came out. In the case of this movie, it was Zeus and Hercules. I’m done. :middle_finger_tone3:
It starts out as self-absorbed. Then you realize it is you who are self-absorbed. And then the ending impacts you more. Kudos, B.J.
