This movie, in my opinion, is a breathe of fresh air, and an AMAZING origin story, with so many great easter eggs. There's also a good level of laughs without making it cringe at all. The issue with MCU lately is too many big names in each movie, but the level of characters in this is great. Definitely one of my top, if not my new top favourite MCU movie. Go watch it!
A lovely tribute to Leslie and such a great way to farewell the actor as a cast. RIP
To be honest I found myself bored in this movie multiple times. There are so many characters that come and go and you don't realise until later when you're trying to work out where they went and why did they create such a story around them. The movie is of course filled with profanity and gore as the rating suggests, but I must say that at the end of it all, the way they tie in all the little stories was amazingly done and there were still plenty of surprises to be had. I also feel that they wrapped the story up quite well (make sure to stay through the animated credits for some finishing remarks). Overall, better than average but not much better than a 6.
The story line was okay, and isn't vital to the MCU at this point, but as with a lot of movies this day, I feel a lot of stuff was in there just for longer movie, and there were quite a few stories that I feel didn't really get wrapped up. It was definitely a movie full of emotions and heritage, but not something I'd call rave worthy this round. I will, however, commend the way that Marvel honoured Chadwick in this movie. They dealt with it well, upfront.
Also, only a mid credit scene. No point waiting until the end for a black screen.
As a fan who grew up on the 1994 version (born in 93) I thoroughly enjoyed this version. I was shocked to walk out of the theatre and realise 2 hours had passed. There were plenty of memorable scenes mixed with new perspectives that didn't ruin it in any way. My only issue was it was sometimes hard to tell what scenes were the flash backs, but again, that didn't remove from the movie at all.
This was a super fun episode!! Also, sneaky way to leave us hanging.
Argh!!! People in Summer Bay SERIOUSLY need to stop trying to hide things!
A lot of the MCU movies are feeling messy and this was a tad bit like that but not as bad as some recent ones. They executed the story line very well and I had to laugh at the very audible gasps on the cinema at some scenes. Great job team!
Loved this movie! So worth the 14 year wait! Yes, the overarching story line was slightly predictable, but all those people complaining need to remember we're 14 years older than we were when the first one came out, we're smarter. I still think it was INCREDIBLE. Loved all the nods to the animation studio, and Jack-Jack was the best!
I knew nothing about the movie going in and although I had seen the trailer once it was nothing like I expected. The story line was very intriguing and I really appreciated how they told it. The actors played their part well, however, I felt that we could have had a better insight into Chase. We all knew where that was headed though. The only reason that I gave it a 9 and not a 10 is they told the story well, but then the end just wrapped up so quickly it felt a bit empty. Would definitely watch again though.
Just want to say, Tori and the doc, so good! Best storyline atm.
If the movie had been filmed during the pandemic I would have understood the lack of anything solid happening, but it wasn't. Sadly this was not a great movie in my opinion. Not bad, but not exciting or rave worthy. I'm a fan of a lot of the cast, and they did well, but it was predictable and slow, with the big action sequence lacking any, well, action. It was over in a couple of minutes with ease. If you have kids under 10, they will probably enjoy it and it's fairly clean for them.
I left the theatre with my head spinning about what I had just seen. The cinematography was spot on for the story. The story was psychologically intense. It's very easy to understand why it was an R16 here in NZ. Yes it was dark, like all recent Batman and Joker movies have hints of. It was brilliantly written to be a genuine glimpse of how Joker could have come to life in reality. This movie is not for the faint hearted. There are some fairly gruesome scenes in my opinion. You may or may not agree with me, but that's your opinion. It certainly had me thinking after I had seen it. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Was it worth seeing? It was interesting for sure. As others have said, there is no secondary character for you to get invested in, but it was well balanced with other characters too.
I didn't go into this movie with high expectations due to the standard DC usually set, but I throughly enjoyed this movie. The CGI was amazing (that's no mean feat generating such an amazing detailed underwater world like that). The story line was well written, with a very enjoyable amount of humour thrown in at the appropriate times. The only downside I feel was the storyline of Magna. Unless you realise the subtle fact of where the attacking sub actually came from, there's no real need for him in the movie. Would definitely recommend for anyone still on the fence about if they should watch it or not though.
I really enjoyed this movie! And so did the group I was watching it with
