Guess what?: There is no murder in the vineyard or even near the vineyard.

Happy New Year, Charlie Brown

The movie that makes me ask the same question each year: What school makes a third grader read "War and Peace" over Christmas break and then write a detailed report about it? Furthermore, why is Charlie Brown the ONLY one having to read it? The other kids at the party in the same grade and class aren't worried about it.

Room

This was hands down my favorite movie of 2015. It's been a very long time since I cried while watching a movie, but this one broke me. Brie Larson deserves every award she gets and Jacob Tremblay is one of the best child actors I've seen in years. This is a difficult movie to watch, but it's one you don't want to miss.

My Sweet Audrina

Much like their version of the "Flowers in the Attic" series, Lifetime left SO much out of this version. Two main characters were apparently removed due to time restraints. At least the parts they left in were semi-good and true to the book, but having read the book and knowing what was missing, made me almost want to stop watching at times and just read the book again instead.

Due to the graphic nature of the books, the only way a V.C. Andrews novel could even been shown correctly is for it to be on HBO, Showtime, or Starz. I wish Lifetime would leave them alone since they can't be presently properly on regular cable.

Visiting Hours

I love a good bad horror movie, but this one is just stupid and not that scary at all.

Outlaw Country

If "Justified" and "Nashville" had a baby, this would be the result. It's difficult to judge this movie because it was originally a pilot for FX that was passed on, so it ends abruptly and leaves you with more questions than answers. That being said, it was really interesting and probably would have worked as a series, but I can see why FX chose not to go forward with it.

Whitney

If you are looking for a movie about Whitney Houston's rise to fame, this isn't it. I think a better title for this movie should have been "When Whitney Met Bobby".

They should have stopped after the first one.

An American Story

Although set in Texas, this TV movie is based on the Battle of Athens (Tennessee) in August 1946. In my family it has always been called the McMinn County War.

Strange Voices

One of the few TV movies from my childhood I actually remember where I was when I watched it. It was my first introduction to psychology and to this day I have never forgotten this film. Nancy McKeon gives a powerhouse performance. Thanks Hulu, for allowing me to see it again.

The Great Mom Swap

This was one of my favorite tv movies as a child. I was one of those weird kids that actually knew who Valerie Harper and Shelley Fabares were and wanted to watch it just for them. Still holds up all these years later.
