'The Little Mermaid' perfectly hits that sweet spot between reinvention and nostalgia. Halle Bailey is easily the standout. Her rendition of Part of Your World is magical. This is one of Disney’s best live-action reimaginings to date.
Jurassic World Dominion may not have been the payoff to the trilogy that I expected, however the cast delivers and the movie offers dinosaur sized action. I was thoroughly entertained and the return of the older cast and homage to the original Jurassic Park was delightful.
We are not worthy. This season is everything
The Batman resembles a classic film noir. The soundtrack is great and Gotham City provides a fantastic backdrop. Matt Reeves hit it out of the park.
Can we talk about Bruno now? Encanto takes place in a colourful setting, features catchy songs and teaches us some lessons about family communication. It is another triumph.
I'm a sucker for a fun action rom-com. Sandra Bullock is on top of her game and Daniel Radcliffe's villainous turn is delightful. The Lost City makes for a great night at the movies.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness strays from the standard Marvel formula with great results. Elizabeth Olsen gives another fantastic performance following her turn on Wandavision. I had a good time with this one.
A step up from the previous instalment. Fantastic Beasts the Secrets of Dumbledore is more politically charged and romantic and the beasts are well used here, however the franchise still lacks the magic of the Harry Potter series.
This feels like watching my childhood flash by before my eyes! It is so special to return to Hogwarts with this cast.
TKB was robbed
That was crazy and I absolutely love it!
The message of Soul is what sticks out the most and the more one thinks about it, the better it becomes. Another major achievement from Pixar.
The ending with the walruses was so incredibly hard to watch.
With too many twists to count “A Simple Favor” is as campy and entertaining as one might expect.
With strong work from director James Wan, Aquaman has great visuals and offers an intriguing origin story for the titular hero.
It may not be practically perfect in every way, but Mary Poppins Returns delivers a heartwarming story brought to life by a stellar cast.
"The Crimes of Grindelwald" is a beautiful film and introduces very dark themes, however it isn't as well-constructed in narrative terms as we might like.
Never underestimate Pixar’s superpowers. After a long wait, The Incredibles still holds its own as one of the best superhero properties out there.
Black Panther provides a stunning image of what a prosperous Africa could look like. This is Marvel at its absolute best.
‘Hereditary’ isn’t the groundbreaking horror movie as some suggest, however there is enough creepiness and there are enough terrifying plot twists that make it standout above the pack.
With a reliable British cast, “Paddington 2” provides another round of incredible storytelling, which leaves you all warm and fuzzy. This is one of the best family movies in recent years.
“The Nun” is weighed down by a poor script, however the movie boasts a chilling atmosphere, admirable set designs and genuine scares, which places it above a lot of other horror movies.
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” serves as another fantastic ABBA tribute and lives up to the original. The younger cast is great, with a special shoutout to Cher. Good luck getting the songs out of your head!
“The Spy Who Dumped Me” doesn’t take the spy-comedy genre to new heights, however there is a lot of fun to be had with this one. It features stellar locations and a great comedic performance by Kate McKinnon.
True to Pixar form, Coco enhances its strong storytelling with brilliant visuals that inspire the imagination and is a wonderful love letter to Mexico.
Both beautiful and heartbreaking, Blue Planet II is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen.
With a story that moves at a steady clip with humor and action, Wonder Woman is the arrival of a hero for all of us, but young women in particular.
Bill Condon's live-action update of Beauty and the Beast is more a reimagining than a remake, a lavish and lovely take on a familiar tale that enriches its source material without betraying it.
On par with On Stranger Tides, this latest Pirates installment is funny and beautiful to look at, but the story doesn’t do it justice. In order to keep this pirates ship going it may be time for Jack Sparrow to retire.
