The premise of the film is people can't sleep, the challenge from the director is to try and stay awake, it's genius.
2 episodes in. I don't want to jinx it, but this looks like a proper Star Trek show. It's about time!
To be able to keep enjoying this show, I literally have to keep skipping the cringe dramatic scenes they have to fill in every 3 minutes, because they don't actually have enough budget to do proper Star Trek episodes. On season 4 currently and it's usually 15-20 minutes per episode that are worth watching.
Complicated, extraordinary people trying to find their place. This series just gets better and better. The script has depth, rooted in a contemporary reality. The lead actors are great. The struggles are compelling. Great writing. Great acting. Great chemistry. This series is a winner. The exceptional nature of this Marvel franchise is that it is more rooted in life in America than in the supernatural reality of these character's powers. My initial rating was a 9 (superb) out of 10 but I quickly knew this was a 10 (extraordinary) series, and, as of the end of Season 1, it is on My Top 40 TV series list. If you haven't been following it, make it a priority to binge it in preparation for Season 2 in the spring of 2019. [Marvel Universe Drama]
This may be the best crime investigation drama I've ever seen. The cat and mouse game between the criminal and investigator was very intense and entertaining, the cinematography was beautiful with many awe-inspiring shots, and I appreciated how deeply we delved into the mindset of the killer. The plot also moved at a nice pace and nothing ever felt out of place or a waste of time.
Edit: This is a review of season 1.
I have enjoyed watching the two aired episodes more than the entire seasons of Discovery & Picard combined. "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" as the saying goes, but I'm extremely optimistic about SNW.
I would say it's enjoyable but it is not. Waste of time. Scenes, acting and even the characters are off. Maybe Pitt adds some flavor for a short time but that's it. 4.5/10
OMG, teen melodrama on witchcraft fantasy genre background. Overall story excruciatingly boring. Coming of age stuff, is caretural. It's bad.
I have no idea what is so much to hate here. It's fine. If you like a good spy thriller/espionage story, this is predictable but competent.
Well, I dunno'. Just watched the 1st episode... and I have some issues with this. I give some more chances, but I am not hoping it is going to be better in my eyes.
Omg, I watch al kind of si-fi but this show really sucks, stopt after the 2nd episode.
watched the teaser trailer, initially seems like / i got the idea in my head ... they extrapolated one of the more popular Jack the Ripper theories (syphillis induced psychosis, in a discrete/secretly gay member of the British royalty/aristocracy) into a forensic/thriller series.
Hope i haven't spoiled the plot of the whole series entirely but ... it's probably a great concept for the Victorian Crime Procedural as long as you don't notice the concepts of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle / Sherlock Holmes in the characters, sets, crimes etc. Will watch anyway.
watched Battle Royale (sorry for the obvious comparison) when it came out and liked it. Watched it again recently and it's still enjoyable. I decided to watch this. I wish I had never bothered. What slightly annoyed me about Battle Royale was a lack of depth in describing the wider situation. I always thought it was a missed opportunity. Now I'm glad it focused on action, adventure and simple tension because it may have turned into something as tedious, unimaginative and boring as The Hunger Games. Jennifer Lawrence was poor. All the performances were meh. The story felt dumbed down and progressione was more like simplistic box ticking.
Jack Trainer moments 7.5 or higher. Remainder? 4/10 mostly. Too much cringe/cheese. I do like the leads; however, and Bullock is 57. Impressive. Can sit through it w your partner and smile at some of the jokes, but overall quite poor. A generous 5.2
