Taxi Driver

I'm just tired of this american point of view of stuff, I guess.

And I think it's time for me to create a "critically aclaimed movies I didn't like" list.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

After the first movie, this one was a disappointment to me. It felt so ambitious, yet it got me shocked how trash it was at some point, it felt like a hardcore trash movie with all the most unfunny things thrown at you at all times. All. The. Time. You get bombarded with bad takes - what the heck was that dance scene? Atrocious. The CGI is also lacking here for most parts, not sure why, it just felt cheap.

The acting of Jim Carey is great as usual, and I really like how they portrait the characters (Sonic, Tails & Knuckles) here, with their flaws and strengths. The final part is also good and fun for the most part.

I just don't comprehend the move target audience, to be honest. I know it's for kids, but I was expecting a family & kids movie, not a cheap movie for <12yo kids only.

He Got Game

This felt cozy to watch like many other 90s movies somehow. Good story, sports, and that's it.

I'm happy to watch a basketball movie without the "last minute point plot" for once.

Nope

I wish I could write something smart enough here, but 2 days after watching this and I'm still speechless. I will probably write more next time I re-watch this. Thank you, Peele.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

Re-watching this made me realize how big it was back then. I really love how Whis and Bills are designed, and all the plot feels so refreshing to a super old anime that had to innovate in order to maintain its' relevance. Really well done, it had all the old days' comedy and battles. Great pace as well.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

This is a masterpiece. The very first minutes you're totally lost and you feel like it's gonna be a total trash-cult movie where nonsense is the key, but damn... it does get a deep meaning and everything is just so beautiful and stunning to watch. I really loved this way more than I expected to, even after seeing it being critically aclaimed. Definitely one of my favorites for 2022!

Lightyear

This movie is beautiful and it has the "funny" Disney touch (that one you know from Disney movies, they're not incredibly funny, but it entertains you). I probably liked it more by watching on the movies than I'd be by watching it at home. The plot isn't that deep, but it does teach you a good lesson. It's a good movie overall.

And yes, Sox is adorable. It's the movie biggest star by far.

Jurassic World Dominion

This is a mix of Fast & Furious, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, all at once. WITH DINOSAURS!

By the way, I wouldn't be with Chris Pratt... everything happens to him. Or I would, because he saves everyone all the time.

I'm not sure what else people would expect from a silly dinosaur movie... it's just what it always has been: a bunch of dinosaurs doing what they do best. And it's a good cinema experience to enjoy — obviously it's not meant to have a great story behind, and I've never expected this trilogy to have it. The special effects are really really good looking. I enjoyed it with all it's flaws.

Inside Man

Spike Lee, pure entertainment. This is cinema.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Disney should do more of these. Funny, entertaining and short as it should be.

Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle

Mogli but with Pokémon, yet they could make it worse and empty for me, somehow.
I guess I'm just tired of Ash... Team Rocket is so empty as well here. They're all so useless to the plot it hurts me.

The animation is pretty tho.

Akira

Please read the original manga, it's worth it with STUNNING visuals.

The movie is great too, specially for a 1988 animation - it holds up pretty well! They did a great adaptation here to a 2-hour long movie.

The Mask

Pure magic by Jim Carrey as usual. This was so fun to rewatch - I remember to love it as a kid. The premise of the movie is just so silly that I feel like it would be a huge fail if not by Carrey.

Still, to this day, I have no idea how they changed the whole comics and made this a comedy movie after all - these comics is just waaay too different. And it was positive after all! This movie IS "the mask" in pop culture, making the original "non-cannon" here.

Also, the cartoon was great as well.

BR: Impossível assistir isso aqui sem ser dublado. Que nostalgia gostosa.

Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might

Always interesting to see how much Toriyama wanted to make Gohan to be the natural Goku's successor... yet, he did not do it.

Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone

It was too long for a filler, as the norm for those old DBZ movies.

Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle

Could be a 20min episode... and it would probably be bad as well.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

It's impressive how this was a 162 minutes long movie, but it didn't felt tiring to me. The combat scenes are really beautiful, the deep ocean is incredibly pretty (even though I felt a little bit disappointed we didn't get to know much about their society), the acting is great and writing is awesome as well.

The way Namor is portrayed here impressed me, it's different from other villains in MCU, and I like it. I just felt it a bit dry for the third act from him (and his society in general). Again, a missed opportunity to show more about them.

Loved the movie overall, one of the best sequels done by Marvel.

Arrival

After watching Dune I've heard of this movie and I was interested to know more about Denis Villeneuve (not that I loved Dune part 1, I was just curious about the stunning-created world).

Arrival was a big surprise! Loved the atmosphere here, the story is not slow-paced like Dune and I was entertained the whole part. The sound and images are just stunning! Kept my interest the whole time. Didn't expect to like this one that much.

The Northman

Ehh... not my cup of tea. I honestly couldn't wait for the movie to end and when it ended I wasn't happy about it either.

Nightcrawler

This made me feel so uncomfortable to watch... this is a good thing, due to the movie's story, but DAMN.

Acting and writing are just amazing on this one.

Do the Right Thing

Only mister Spike Lee could've done this movie to be this great. The way you're attached to every single characters in this movie is something else, it blows your mind how it starts so slow and yet at the end of the movie you're feeling like you've lived in this neighborhood and you understand each person's point of view and feelings at the right time.

Spike Lee, you're the man.

War for the Planet of the Apes

While this is not as deep as the first and second movies (to me), it is still a great way to finish the trilogy.

I believe the other two movies made me feel reflecting more about life and society than this one, but it's still a great movie overall. Highly impressed with the trilogy, to be honest, it grew on me so much it's one of my favorite franchises already. I'll definitely rewatch those in the future and look forward to sequels. Highly recommended to all people who likes sci-fi movies.

CGI in this movie is top-notch, damn!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The hype of this franchise grew on me, damn, I'm so impressed how deep it is. Always thought it was just a movie about apes vs humans, but it's so much more!

First I have to say the first movie got me hard and intrigued me way more than this one, but this is not a complaint, it's spetacular how great this sequel is after I've liked so much the first one.

This second movie is more about how societies works and how we have similarities on our issues, even though we're a different kind. It's brilliant and very well portrayed here. The only downside for me is that I really don't like the american-way of making one badass character being immune to bullets and the only one to shot everybody out there (yes, that Koba scene riding his horse through fire and killing everyone was just too much for me).

Other than that, this movie is AWESOME. Really loved the characters and the plot so far. Looking forward to watch the third one!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

This is my very first time watching this. I knew nothing about it and DAMN! I'm so hyped to watch the sequels now. It's just mesmerizing in every aspect.

I love the pace of this movie, character development feels so natural and amazing. it was so emotional at times and yet a great action movie, and a great sci-fi too!

Kept me entertained from start to finish and also intrigued me about how it'd end (even though I knew it somehow).

Loved it way more than I expected.

Josee, the Tiger and the Fish

The 5 rating was for the scene where she described their story in her draws alone. Other than that, it was just another beautiful animated yet extremely predictable plot. I'm getting tired of these kind of japanese animations to be fair.

Orphan: First Kill

It wasn't that amusing of an story. Honestly, the plot twist in the middle was interesting, but I kept thinking this movie didn't need to exist at all. It was just off most of the times for me.

Orphan

This was predictable, but I enjoyed it. Not really an horror movie fan though, so I can't tell much whether this is good or not.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

I wish Dragon Ball had spin-off series showing Earth / Universe / Multiverse in separated plots. Damn, even something about Future Trunks timeline would be great, and this movie shows it well. Ganma 1 & 2 are just awesome ideas. I was super surprised of how fun this movie was and how "on-point" the comedy scenes are. It was genuinely fun, loved it and laughed more than I thought I would. CGI was a bit awkward for me in some scenes - felt like a videogame cutscene - but the last battle was great.

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'

Not really my cup of tea. Huge drop in comparison to the rest of the Super series, in my opinion.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Just watched this after reading Bryan Lee O'malley's Seconds and I'm amazing how great Edgar Wright portraits the feeling of reading comics to the screen. It has so beautiful animations and it feels like I'm reading Bryan Lee's comics!

I am not sure if I'd like the movie dynamic if I haven't read Bryan Lee's comics before, but I really enjoyed how it goes here. The attention to details makes it even greater.
