The worst battle royal ever!
The perfect example of why you should always make backups and keep them in a different location.
Lucy’s foot is the cleanest foot that walked on the Wasteland ;)
So, war. I’m not sure about this change. The original show was about political schemes and war was just something lurking in the distance. Furthermore, there was more to Anjin-san discovering Japan’s culture and habits, and his relationship with Mariko.
But even with the above changes, the show is still great, and hopefully, it will stay that way.
Although this is another great episode, I felt that some parts of the story were rushed. It is unclear why this was the case, especially considering that the original adaptation had five episodes, while this one has double that amount. Perhaps the creators wanted to expand the story, but this could have been done in the second season. Additionally, it is possible that my memory is playing tricks on me regarding the original story, which I watched many years ago.
Anyway, this episode was excellent and marks a promising start to what will hopefully be a fantastic adventure.
Did Baylan make it to Middle-earth?
Good to see that Ashoka was able to attach her lightsabers to her belt before she felt unconscious in the water because as the wise Jedi once said: “This weapon is your life”.
Tissaia is turning into Le Chiffre.
I'm convinced that at this stage the creators just randomly open some page from the books, and build a scene based on that. And then another, and another. It doesn't hold together, there is no emotion in it. And most of all, it doesn't have the spirit of one of my beloved novels.
Well, and why is it that this season, every place looks like it was just built out of Legos? Even an inferior pub in some rumpus is clean and fragrant. Everyone has everything at hand, too. All you have to do is get off the road, take a few steps and you're there.
Being able to buy four houses is quite a feat for always broke Witcher and the witch on the run.
Moreover, they have even managed to fuck up “Dear friend” letters. What a shitshow.
When I saw the running time of the last episode, I wasn't sure they were going to make it in such a short time. But they nailed it, they fucking nailed it. The ending left me torn apart, just like the game did. I fucking love and hate this story and those characters so much.
On a brighter note, the farm from the beginning looked very familiar. Also, it was kind of strange to see Ellie giving birth to Ellie. And we even had a chance to see (well, kind of) Laura Bailey!
You either die Joel or you live long enough to see yourself become James.
Another great episode. And the “Baby girl” moment with a close up on Joel's broken watch. So simple, yet so powerful.
I don't think they could have done it any better. It was just a brilliant episode with great acting, great visuals and great but subtle music to add to the experience.
The A-Ha tape and song was a nice touch as well.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about the change they made to the story, culminating in Joel and Ellie's conversation, but it still hit as hard as it did in the game. Both Pedro and Bella did a great job.
The Jackson also looked perfect. Great setup for Part II, and we got a chance to see young Shimmer. No Dina though ;)
It doesn't get any better than this. It's on a par with episode three, but with more action. And yet the emotions still hit hard when they need to. I also like the changes the writers have made compared to the game, as they are better suited to the TV show.
It was nice to see real Tommy as not-Tommy.
I have always said that The Last of Us is a game that I would watch as a TV series. Now that I'm watching it on HBO, I'm thinking this is the way I'd like to watch a game being played on YouTube or Twitch or whatever you're streaming on.
The third episode was a slow one, focusing on Bill's backstory, which is very different from the game, but it's a wonderful change, deeply emotional.
In the game, I never had the chance to get to know Bill more, and now that I have, I'm grateful that this show is expanding on what was already a beautiful story.
Clickers. Fucking Clickers.
Those fuckers are scary AF.
Also, Joel's delicate glance at his watch hurt so much.
My heart is broken and I'm in pain. Again. But the HBO adaptation is so beautifully done. It's like the game, but bigger. It's also slower, which allows sinking into this world. I know this world, this story well too much, and yet it hits hard every, fucking, time when I play the game and now, when I watch the show.
And I love it. I love it so much that it hurts.
I know it's just one episode, the first one, but I hope that HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us will keep this to the end of the season. Or even gets better.
Rated it 5 because of Nolan North's cameo. Otherwise, it has nothing of the magic of the Uncharted games. Unfortunately.
The only good thing about this movie is Theron’s haircut.
For a while, I was thinking of rating it a 7, but it is not a good movie. It is fair, but enjoyable to watch. Also got some charm to it. I think it is not taking itself too seriously with overcolored characters and that is its strength.
Also Ana de Armas once again, after “No time to die”, stole my heart.
Oh and the scene when Claire is left in a castle room is such a strong “Commando” reference ;)
Damn you, creators. That was a nice reference to the Monthy Python with the organ playing fella :)
They did not learn the lesson about what may happen when you let Marco live. But I totally understand Jim’s decision. And it was a hard one.
NOO GOD! NO. GOD. PLEASE. NO. NO!!! NO!!! NOOOOOO!!!
I don’t understand why they’re doing this? taking material from great books and turning it into shitstorm of bad ideas.
Makes me wonder if creators read the saga. There is only one thing here that’s close to the books, which is Ciri and Gerald at Kaer Morhen.
I was really hoping that at the end they will show cyborg Tokyo made from gold.
Sierra almost with 360 no-scope.
This series lost its identity. Shame.
So the Queen played her hand which helped Kofun came to conclusion.
