Maybe the problem was mine because I went with so much hype and expectation following The Conjuring series, but this movie lacks great story, great acting (literally there was no highlight of any of them, except Valak actress), the cinematography and the sets felt so poor and lackluster. It was a "normal" horror movie, nothing more. Go see with your friends, have a couple of jumpscares but don't expect leaving the theater wanting more of that abbey story. Valak/The Nun worked so much better in Conjuring 2 that here it felt a little comedic and used only for financial and marketing reasons. Anyhow, the sound and practical effects were the highlight of the movie, sometimes being the only thing that scares you and puts you in the edge of your seat.
