@finfan I was expecting a less harsh goodbye. It's true that Tasha didn't have much to do in the season, but I liked her character nevertheless, so I am really sad about this departure.
Armus reminded me of Bergman's Death character from The Seventh Seal, at first. He's actually very different, pathetic and sad. But the chess play between him and Picard was exciting and intriguing.

@andreas1138 Yes, her death was rather pointless and a real shocker at the time. I think the whole staff was surprised by her wanting out and it seems she wanted to do so in hurry. Not even waiting for the end of the season. That gave the writers no opportunity to come up with a "better" death. Sounds awful however you put it.
In retrospect it changed the whole set-up off the show. A lot of episodes would have been different, some probably not even happening.
