Great series - loved the books and the translation to screen works well. Worth the watch if you like old school crime drama

After season 5 Bosch still continues to deliver. In my opinion, this is the best crime drama today.
What the heck is wrong with characters' names?!
- Hieronymus Bosch. Not even changing the name or last name, leaving just one as a homage. Nope, same same as an outrageously famous painter. Like naming your detective Vincent Van Gogh or Pablo Picasso. Not George Picasso or Frank Van Gogh, so we know it's a reference, but not 150% obvious. Precisely the same
- Jerry Edgar. Mmm, police, investigations and one J. Edgar... I wonder where I've heard that. A tiny bit more subtle than the former, but still
- Irvin Irving. Just as a Jack Jackson, Paul Paulson. Nothing wrong, but meh
It's a good show and definitely way above the average investigative format that we often see that pretty much only recycle themselves over and over throughout their seasons. However, while characters are very well developed, each of the seasons main stories are not so much.
Excluding the outrageously badly written Season #3 (really, it's very messy), they all stand a solid ground, introducing facts, evidences and even new characters in an understandable pace. Granted, Season #2 was very nice and Season #4 was AMAZING but other than that the show stays solid within its premise. and expectations.
But the best single episode, without question, was ep. 5x9 when Judge Sobel showed lawyers and the prosecutor who's da boss.

Still one of the best shows on TV and the best from Amazon. Sad it went down to 8 episodes this season 7. I wish season 8 wouldn't take so long to come.
What can I say about this series?
Characters so humanized and with real problems that make you identify with them.
Intertwined stories and plots that make you learn a lot about how the judicial, police and government systems work, with all their bureaucracies and facets.
And a very good soundtrack that influenced me in a good way listen to Jazz.
I recommend this series without reservations.
I just finished season 4, and all I have to say is WOW! I can't wait for season 5. Great series, great story throughout and I think that every new season is better than the previous. You have 10 episodes per season, 45-55 minutes length, so every minute is important, and that is what I like - there are no ''fillers'', so it's quality not the quantity. I highly recommend this show for everyone who likes cop-detective-crime-thriller-mysteries with a little bit of drama just to keep things smooth, and trust me there are some tough and sad moments... I just can't say enough good things about this series. Watch it right now. 9/10
What an amazing Show feels like Jame Elroy L.A Noire ,beautifuly acted , amazing story. Too bad only 10 episodes per season.

After loving the books the show for me does them justice. Titus is excellent and by far this is at the top of crime drama and just shows in general.
If you've not then give the books a go they add so much depth to the world along with the show.
Easily one of the best shows out right now. I'm truly sad it was only 10 episodes but the best shows usually are short just to keep us wanting more. It could be my ties to growing up in the area but the characters and plot were so driven that I was hooked.

If you like some good old Crime without super enhanced technic stuff this is a 9/10 show for you (even tho i like my fair share of tech stuff this is a welcomed change). I really loved the first season and I am midway into the 2nd. Cant stop watching :) Happy to hear its getting a 3rd one. has this special LA Noire feeling to me, just set in a modern world.
apparently its being well spoken by the majority of the reviews but the pilot seemed a bit empty and boring to me. maybe it gets better i guess...
At first, I was cautious about this series, the first season began as a cliche (tough cop, living by his own code) with dialogue that was uneven (tough, angry talk without context or emotional depth). I didn't have the experience of the Michael Connelly novels so I didn't come with any preconceived expectations but as the first season and then the second season unfolded the characters found their pace, broadened the dialogue, and I enjoyed it. Season 3 reverted to the angry, misunderstood and arrogant cliche and was by far the weakest season but ended better than it began and was followed by 3 great seasons. After 3 seasons of great stories, solid acting, great supporting and surprising guest cast, and, despite the uneven highs and lows, I'm rounding out my rating of this series to an 8 (one of the better) out of 10. This current season (2019) in my opinion has been the best so far.
I really love this show, it has a very special groove with a great cast and cinematography. It's not fast paced, but takes its time to develop the characters and the stories.
The worst thing about Bosch is that each season doesn't cover his story in numerical or chronological order.
The best thing about it is that the cases that were chosen to be mixed and matched ate very well interwoven.

Superb series, Titus Welliver is great as Harry Bosch and has a strong supporting cast. Season 5 was the least enjoyable for me, it was still OK but it dragged quite a bit in places. In season 7 the sideline stories (the Chief's domestic life and political struggles with the mayor alongside the sexual harassment case with the Lt.) seemed to be more irritating, they got in the way more and added no real value. Great take on the classic cop drama though, theme music is pretty good too. I'd rate it 7/8 overall.
It's a slice of life modern update of the old school detective noir lol.
Man I will miss this show now it's ended. Harry Edgar and Maddy are such lovable characters. Especially Harry; such a bad ***, yet composed detective
Really enjoying these series. Usually I'm not a big fan of police series but this one is a little bit old school in my opinion. It has more of a classical feel to it. No avoidable drama, no nonsense, I mean maybe a little bit but nothing compared to others. Good stories imo and well executed. Nothing out of the ordinary really, just solid. I find myself watching 2 or 3 in a row without being overly excited but without noticing the time either.
I would rate it 8 or 8,5 where 9 or 9,5 is true detective (s1) and CSI something like 5 maybe.

Highly underrated series that is easily among the top cop-shows out there I might even be as bold as to say that it's right up there with The Wire (it's a steep drop to be honest). I'm glad Titus Welliver "finally" got this lead role although a bit disappointed to see how typecast Lance Reddick is in every singly show I see 'm in.
A must-see show that gets better with every season.
