We hope you enjoy our respective takes on the return of Season 3 with episode 3.11 – Rapture… and whether you do or don’t, be sure to let us know!

It’s going to be a long 2 weeks with no new episodes of BSG until February 11, but we can help fill the void: Matt + Nat are going to be doing a special “Theory” only videoblog next week, bringing together some old an new ideas of where the series is going.

The two of us don’t entirely agree on this episode, and like most of the BSG geek community, we’re pretty split on whether ot not to like this episode… between the over promised Roslin-Zarek & Six-HeadBaltar scenes, and the over delivered Helo scenes, this episode is still a contraversy.

Sorry it’s a bit late this week… but we went to Miami for Nat’s birthday, and also wound up meeting up with a fellow BSGcast comment contributor, DJ Brazen, while we were there!
So this week we have quite a bit to say about this Adama-centric episode that continues the recent pattern of stand-alone episodes. From the dysfunctional relationships of the Adamas and the Tyrols, to the sexual tension of The President and the Admiral, the episode does a better job of asking questions than answering them.

Thankfully, this week’s episode of BSG seems to be a return to form leading into what will hopefully be a stellar last few episodes for Season 3, and Matt + Nat have plenty to say… and disagree about this politically and socially charged story, written by Jane Espenson, of Buffy/Angel/Firefly fame.

A shocker in the true sense of the word. For fear of giving away spoilers to the unwilling, we’ll try and stay cryptic… we are both grapsing for every “say it ain’t so” theory we can imagine, and hopefully you can chime in with your own, but we really feel that there is more to this episode than meets the eye! Hopefully our theories can give you a bit of consolation while you gently cry your self to sleep each night from now on…

Without being named that way, this episode has been described as part one of a three episode finale… we’re really hoping the last two episodes of the season pick up the momentum a bit from this one. It gives us some closure for Lee, Anders and Adama after the events of last week, and it’s great setup for Baltar’s Trial with the introduction of Romo Lampkin, his defense attourney. But all in all, we find it falls a bit flat and is difficult to enjoy as just an episode.

Holy Frak… that was one hell of a Part 1… lots of great loose ends to (hopefully) tie up before the end of Part 2… and we’re quite sure there will be a tonne of new wackiness set loose in Part 2 that we’re not going to see resolved until NEXT January. Between Roslin’s Cancer relapse, Lee’s resignation, Tigh’s public flogging, Tori and Anders’ longing glances and the mysterious signal coming in over the wireless, there is a lot of ’splainin’ to do!

Here it is guys! At last! With another 9 months until we get the cliffhanger resolved, we’ve got some BSG this fall to look forward to in the form of a 2-episode Pegasus-centric BSG-event, but otherwise, we’re hangin’ in the breeze ’til ‘08, gang. In the meantime, there’s lots of BSGcast goodness and YourGeekNews.com fun to come, so keep checking!
