Last episode I covered some of the most impactful games of the past decade and today we are topping off that list. You see, when I decided to do these episodes, I had ideas of what games would and wouldn't end up making the cut. There are SO MANY great games that came out in the past ten years but, no matter how much we love them, they did not shape the face of gaming culture as we know it today. These final games, I think, did just that. Let's go!
With the release of the new Five Nights At Freddy's book series Fazbear Frights, the first 3 stories of which have been released, we have been introduced a monumental piece of information. One of my favorite VR horror games is Duck Season, so when the makers of that game came out with Boneworks I was sold! Last episode, we explored the big secret hiding beneath the surface of Boneworks - the double agent Arthur Ford and his quest for immortality. I left you with the idea that this all comes full circle with the evil Dog from Duck Season, another game from Stress Level Zero. There are so many secrets buried in Boneworks as it relates to Stress Level Zero's other games, especially Duck Season. There was still one thing left, after our last episodes, that I REALLY wanted to talk to you about. That is the connection between Arthur Ford, our Boneworks protagonists, and David, the protagonist of Duck Season. You see there is evidence that they are, in fact, one and the same. Try To Fall Asleep is an indie horror game that has taken my Theorist brain by storm. Since playing it, I HAD to do a theory. The story revolves around our player character, a man tormented by hallucinations while awake AND asleep. We have to try to fall asleep for our own good, or so our Doctor says. I am going to piece together all of the puzzle pieces of our time awake and dreaming to figure out what is going on at the CENTER of this awesome horror game. Let's go!

In my last Minecraft episode, I peeled back the mysterious layers of the Minecraft Illagers. In that, I talked about how the Illagers were looking to build their own Minecraft worlds - from portals to Steve himself. There was something else that I wasn't able to cover in that episode, and that is how Minecraft Illagers relate to the history of what is known as cargo cults.
One of the most memorable, and heartbreaking, moments of the original Final Fantasy 7 game was the death of Aerith. No matter what you do, how many saves you load, there is no way to save her. Not even the Phoenix Down works! It's always bugged me that this resource made to save people from death, couldn't save this beloved character. Why IS that? Years ago now, World of Warcraft had an event that changed the landscape of the ENTIRE game for the players. Hundreds of thousands of skeletons littered the cities, all player characters who had perished to what was called the "corrupted blood plague". Animal Crossing has BOOMED and appears to be the biggest it's ever been with its latest release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We are all building islands, finding and growing every fruit we can, and making sure we get the best villagers as our residents. Speaking of villagers, there is one that seems to be universally disliked more than others, Zipper T Bunny. The Far Cry series has a long history of charismatic and not so good leaders in their games. They are games with a deep dive into how bad leaders come into power... and how they stay there. Now, the games generally focus on bringing down these bad leaders - and they do a great job. I've learned a LOT and it follows many of the lessons we've learned throughout our own history on the subject. If we know how a bad leader stays in power, we can figure out how to take that power away. Get ready for a power lesson in Game Theory!
The Last of Us franchise is a story of humanity trying to survive in the face of a virus turning people into fungus creatures that are not quite zombies. We learn early on in the first game that Ellie is immune, perhaps even the only immune person there is. This makes her invaluable to those trying to find a cure. Except, I think she may not be immune. The second game shows a lot of evidence that something else may be going on with Ellie. Something that may tell us the future direction of this story and the future of Ellie.

Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, has come out swinging recently. First it was at the Google Play Store, now it's out for Apple's App Store too. When Markiplier and CrankGamePlays put up the channel Unus Annus, they had two big rules.
1. They would be uploading daily for 365 day.
2. After those 365 days, the channel would be deleted and disappear forever.
That is a BIG play. All that work just to have it disappear? It is a bold and simple premise for a channel... except nothing is ever that simple, is it? Therosits, I have watched and analyzed all of the uploads on the channel and I've come to one BIG conclusion. There is something SECRET hiding in the videos of Unus Annus. A secret that someone has been trying to tell us since the beginning. A secret that, just maybe, could save Mark, Ethan, and Unus Annus before the clock runs out.
Whenever something new pops up in the world of Minecraft, you know I have to talk about it! So, what are the Minecraft Wardens? The recent announcement of the Minecraft cave update adds a new mob of big, horned monsters. Design wise, they are pretty scary but how do they change the lore? I am super excited for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This brand new world looks AMAZING! Plus, the footage shows so many cool weapons and abilities. In fact, one that caught my eye is the dual wielding. You are able to dual wield a wide variety of weapons. So many in fact, that I want to know what the STRONGEST way to fight would be. What do you use? You probably read the title and thought something like, "There goes MatPat, trying to figure out a FNAF game that's not even out yet." Well, you may be RIGHT but you are also WRONG! I'm not "trying" to solve the big TWIST of FNAF Security Breach. All of my days of gathering evidence and researching the Five Nights at Freddy's universe means that I KNOW my stuff. Theorists, have you ever wanted to fly? Not Superman fly, but soar on a pair of wings like, well, a Phoenix? In the amazing new game Immortals Fenyx Rising, your character gets to do just that. She is a winged warrior out to defeat mythological monsters on her quest to rescue the Gods. Fenyx's wings are VERY similar to those Daedalus made for Icarus in the famous Greek myth. We all know how that turned out. What I want to figure out today is if a human can really fly with a pair of wings and HOW that would need to work to not end up crashing to the earth like Icarus. The original Five Nights at Freddy's spawned many sequels and sister games. Over the years I've played them all and through that stumbled upon the phenomena that is FNAF fan games. Games so loved by FNAF fans that those games have ALSO created their own universes - some linked to the original game and some all their own. These games have gotten so big that it's a wonder they haven't been struck down by the copyright powers that be - and there is a VERY specific reason they haven't. You see, Scott Cawthon has learned one thing that most game companies never have and likely never will - community.
One of the major titles released to promote the PS5 was Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It is a sequel / DLC of the 2018 Spider-Man game - so of course, we have to cover it! Theorists, I think Marvel is using their games to test the waters for the MCU and I think Miles is giving us a hint to something BIG in it's next villain. No, I don't mean Green Goblin or Venom, I mean the SECRET villain that will be the big twist of the next Spider-Man game. That's right, ANOTHER big bad is about to enter the ring and I know who it is!
