Probably the best Netflix series I've seen this year, and the best from Gaumont (I'm glad that they kept the same quality level from Hannibal), again shot in 4K for main photography and 8K for aerial views. From the production standpoint, it proves that José Padilha is one of the best Latin American directors & producers, as he kept most of his Brazilian film production crew, including Pedro Bromfman (his haunting music is excellent for this series). The fact that this series was mostly shot in Colombia (in some of the real locations where Escobar lived), is noteworthy, and the level of realism and fully transparent visual effects by Mr. X (via Technicolor) gives us a whole different sense of the unfolding drama. If you have seen the VFX breakdowns, you'll know that most of the streets and landscapes in this series are CGI-enhaced and extended. We all know already how this story ends in 1993, and despite this fact I'm glued to the screen in every episode. The Spanish dialogues are tweaked in a way that when translated the meaning is slightly different, so I'm pretty much sure that the whole series was written first in English. The whole cast is great, despite not many of them being Colombian (mostly Mexican, actually), and Wagner Moura's performance is spot on (probably an Emmy nomination would come his way soon) despite his very, very heavy Portuguese accent. Some parts I couldn't even figure out what he was saying, even when Spanish is my native tongue, so I kept the English CC active in every episode. Honestly, I can't wait for the second (and most likely the last) season. Their main achievement with Narcos was not glamorizing Escobar or the drug trade, but presenting a compelling, human story that everyone can relate to.
The details of the various manipulation tactics in this story are really compelling and I imagine quite real. This is a must see. Though this a fictional account the performances and the story narration make it appear quite real and conceivable in our complex world. Well done.
This show will continue on as "Narcos: Mexico", so there won't be a fourth season per se. You'll have to add that show separately if you want to follow it.
Giving it a 6/10 rating.i wish the actors had spoken more in english than spanish.it is difficult to focus on their facial expression and body language while attempting to read the subtitles quickly before they disappear.sometimes you have to go back a few seconds because you missed few words. extremely annoying.
Great show. I'll give it a 9/10 bc Americans are constantly mispronouncing Spanish words and they're annoying me.

From what I have seen from Netflix, and I have seen most of its productions, Narcos is still, even after a second season, by far the best of any of them. One can not avoid feel some weird pity for a Pablo, abandoned by everyone, injured to death, laying over roof full of tiles, to be finished off with an uncalled shoot to the face and used as a hunters trophy by the same fellows who would have frozen completely from fear at his sight a few years earlier.
Have a 10/10! Enjoyed every single bit of it. Waiting in anticipation for season 2!

The only thing I hate of this series is the actor who does Pablo Escobar.. I mean, he doesn't even speak fluid spanish. Obviously someone from USA can't tell the difference but I bet everyone who understands spanish can feel related to this, it's really annoying.

Great great series, i enjoyed every minute.
So , I watched a bit more than halfway through season one. The story is interesting, the look of the show itself is great. However I am feeling like I am watching a documentary with re-enactment. Having to read about 80 % of the dialogue isn't helping either. It's distracting if you cannot focus on the actors and instead have to read their lines.
And I have to admit, althought of course everything Escobar did was gruesome, and knowing that those things really happened, I couldn't help but smile once or twice when the Americans didn't get what they wanted. And that shouldn't be the case, right ? But they were really arrogant at times.
I decided to drop the show but not because it's bad. The style just didn't click with me.
What a great show! I just finished watching it and can't wait to see season "4" or the new spin - Mexico.
I also noticed that the camera rig made it into the scene when the police car crashed into the vehicle Miguel Rodriguez was in. Thought it was kinda funny.

The first season was very strong, I really liked the story line about Pablo Escobar. I would've given that one season a 10/10. The other two seasons however... I couldn't resonate with them as much and I didn't like it as much.
Well done. Season 3 wasn't a let down. The story was intelligent and quite plausible to tell you the truth.

It took me a long time to watch this show because it wasn't in English, but after watching the first three episodes I was hooked. Pablo Escobar was a fucking savage! He didn't care about the consequences of his actions as long as he killed; he was satisfied!
Wagner Moura did an amazing job by playing Pablo Escobar. He gained massive weight and even learned Spanish for the role.
By far one of the best if not THE best tv shows i have ever seen, if for some reason you are not watching this- go watch it now

I hate Pablo Escobar and I wanted to be dead since episode 1, but I've to admit that Wagner Moura does a great job; he's so good at acting that his Escobar will literally makes you cry, even if he was a monster! garanteed!

Great series, specially if we take into account that it's a novelized (simplistic & fictional) take at Escobars's life and does not pretend to be a historic account of events but entertainment based on the real history of a man (taken as a whole).
It's great even if with the obvious mistakes in accents and dialects from different parts of Colombia, Medellin, Cali, Bogota, etc... and the fact that the fictional "Escobar" speaks using a correct Spanish but with an uncommon aspired accent which does not match Escobars's probable (real) dialect, known as "paisa", the peculiar accent and expressions of Medellin's working class.
Wagner Moura, the actor giving life to Escobar, Brazilian, does not actually interfere with the credibility "Escobar". Moreover it shows his great acting abilities, specially if we realize he couldn't take full advantage the spoken part of his performance.
One of the best series of the last years. Awesome acting, history and script.

This show makes me particularly proud because, in spite of his very heavy accent, Wagner Moura is an outstanding brazilian actor and I'm just so glad he's getting his international recognition. Better late than never!
