It's been 11 months since I watched the episode before this one. In the meantime, I watched a whole lot of other shows. But when I decided to resume watching Penny Dreadful and started playing this episode... Wow! It truly felt like I was watching a whole other level of television. This show has always been high above the average, but this episode in particular is worlds apart from what there's usually on Netflix or HBO or whatever.
Only two characters (and the occasional appearance of the doctor), tons of dialogue, and almost an hour of the best TV I've watched in ages. Absolutely mesmerising!

I feel that I didn't care for the storyline as much as I should have. Still, it's necessary to indicate that it IS getting together, finally. Well, it's a small season...

But my god, Eva Green nails it so damn hard. What an amazing actress!
Rory's one to admire, as well... specially with the difference perceived when he is portraying Dracula. Very nice job!

All in all, what makes me keep coming back for PD is the acting (and, not as much on this episode, but even so) the great photography.

In the Vanessa Ives Timeline when exactly was her stay at the mental facility? I thought it was before meeting the cut-wife but yet she is speaking the verbis diablo in this episode. Was that the Vanessa with Dr. Seward speaking maybe? That part was a bit confusing.

The acting and the atmosphere of this show is intense. I loved how the viewer doesnt leave the white room either.

this episode really felt like a stage play, like i was watching theatre. the intensity of the single set and two actors. wow.
i think this was my favorite episode. and rory kinnear's distinction between 3 characters in one scene was pretty great acting.
the only thing that took me out was dracula being lucifer's brother??? i knew it was coming but i was still hoping he wasn't doing to say his name. i couldn't take it seriously! i can't process a vampire being stronger or more powerful than lucifer.
